notes
Distraught, disheveled, inventive and exploding on the scene. This process details the evolution of the alt-rock experience aptly tagged Fair To Midland. Exceeding any interpretation of 'average', and rather carrying their title as a shield, their sound is an extraordinary surprise for the unarmed listener. Beyond the buzz and anticipation lies five unique individuals that together have created an intense and wildly exciting brand of rock citing artistic influences in both musical and literary outlets.
Brett Stowers and Nathin Seals offer a rhythmic passion that leads the humble gentlemen in their avant-garde sound. The unearthed discord and unconventional cries of frontman Andrew Sudderth infused with guitarist Cliff Campbell's melodic fury tumble into a captivating creation of sonics, cultures, and confusion. Combined with the subtle offering of Matt Langley on keys, FTM glides past the expected boundries and gracefully throws their intense rock harmonies to the flame.
Originally banding together slightly off the chart of the Dallas/Ft. Worth Metroplex in 1998, FTM worked around school schedules, day jobs and college towns to secure their lineup. The members of FTM proudly call Dallas home as they continually play packed shows at the city's premier venues. Each live FTM show is a breathless experience incorporating each individual's talents with the sweat and excitement from the crowd. Though the hyperactive stage antics have quickly led to busted lips, bloody noses, and onstage collisions, these methodical interpretations only add to the cries of the crowd for an almost spiritual experience.
Releasing their debut EP The Carbon Copy Silver Lining in January of 2001, the much anticipated and overdue follow-up, inter.funda.stifle, is now completed. Working with producer Mitch Lerner at Reeltime Audio in Denton, TX, the new work includes guest vocals from a childrens' choir and additional string arrangements.

This is the greatest album in the history of music.
author: Aaron SayeWords cannot describe the incredibility of this album. It leaves you riding an ecstatic high that is unavailable through any other experience, besides perhaps seeing this band play live. This album becomes an addiction, really. But of course it's a good addiction. Anyone who does not have it is sorely missing out......
the hottest unknown band they need east coast exposure now
author: craig leewhat an amazing mix of vocals and gut wrenching guitars they need to get this album out to the public everywhere it is so infectious it will be in everyones cd player.
Great CD!
author: JaredI discovered FTM through Serjical Strike, and wanting to hear more, I bought this CD. It did not dissappoint. FTM have a very unique sound, and some of the songs on here are so good it'd be worth buying the CD alone just for them, including A Seafarer's Knot, Orphan Anthem '86, Walls Of Jericho, and Dance Of The Manatee. A consistently great CD.
Amazing Album
author: ToddOne of the best self released albums ever.
EXCITING and INSPIRING
author: CoryStumbled onto this band a couple months ago from another Texas act's MySpace ( Moving Atlas). Thank the powers that be for FTM. This is the most refreshing, unique sound i've heard in a long long time. I quickly persued all free downloads from MyPsace, PureVolume, and Garageband. Listening to this complitlation for a few days confirmed that i needed the rest of their catalog. I bought inter, funda, stifle from CDBaby and downloaded Carbon Copy Silver Lining from Emusic. The first CCSL is a bit heavier than I.F.S, but both are equally impressive. I can't stop switching the 2 from my player. All i can say now, is i hope Serj lets them continue how they wish as far as recording. All he needs to do is promote them. Musically they now exactly what they are doing.
amazing

author: Kathy & SteveWe bought this cd after doing to see The Timeline Post open for FTM at the Granada I think it was 5-13-06. It was an amazing live show and the CD hasn't left my player since I got it. Very original music , I can only vaugly compare them to Rush and Pink Floyd but only in general terms, they will blow your mind !!

Una Maravilla convertida en musica
author: DavidUno de esos discos que cuando lo oyes por primera vez, no puedes dejar pasar un dia sin oirlo. Realmente un gran descubrimiento.

This album reminds me what it was to be a a baby penguin so many days ago, lost in a sea of both sweet and dill relish. I plume myself just squawking about it. Esmerelda, my love, my pink footed concubine- The fair that is to the midland has brought us closer. Squeek, my love. Squeek squeekum.
Amazing Album.
author: Aaron LiaoThis is an excellent CD, it's very progressive. THe instrumentals are great. Absolutely fantastic stuff that you've never heard before. Andrew Sudderth's vocal capabalities are impressive, as well as his lyrics. Overall, Fair to Midland are a mysterious, talented, stunning amazing band. You should definetely check this album out.
inter.funda.stifle ---------It don't get any better than this
author: cidmenow----------(Price)You have to own it to understand it.This cd is by far fair to midland's best one yet. Some of the best song's on the cd you can not find a sample of anywhere. when I first got this cd I got it the same day I got C.C.S.L.(F.T.M.'s first cd)So I will admit it stayed on the shelf for a while. Once it hit my cd player it stayd there.I think one thing that stands out about this cd, is how differnt it is from so much of the main stream crap that is out there today.Just to think F.T.M. has been compared to Rush,Pink floyd,Dream theater, even Korn. While inter.fonda.stifle screams Fair to midland.
Better than the first..... and the next one will be better yet......!
author: BradIt's diverse. Great stories. Catches you off gaurd. REFRESHING! Better than the first album and the next one will be better yet(unless it's worse:)! Absolute favorites: dance of the manatee, a seafarer's knot, quince. The whole album is an exciting journy. Tracks 1-15! DIG IT! You don't hear this stuff from mainstream bands in thier early 20's! GREAT JOB GUYS!!!!!!
Geat
author: DustenGeat CD. Everything and more I thought it would be! Great job guys.

author: Meghan Gwow. i was introduced to this cd not to long ago and i fell inlove. its a must have definetly. it can be described in one word. amazing.
Damn!
author: OdieI knew these guys back in the day. I knew they had something that was special. They are going to be very well known one day! This CD kicks ass!
AMAZING
author: Brianone word: AMAZING!!! I can't stop listening to track 6, although all the songs on the album are breathtaking... I don't even know the names of the songs because I just listen to this album nonstop going to and from work. A MUST HAVE!
simply.fucking.amazing.
author: chris.penrodThis CD combines elements for fans of dredg, kaddisfly, quitter and other "avant rock" bands. fans of this cd already know that much more is to be expected out of this band, but will be more than satisfied with this disc alone. purchase this cd, and you will not be sorry.
Breathtaking
author: Cara CoxAndrew's vocals used throughout all the songs are amazing. Each song is original, you will be overcome and not know what hit you.
...
author: Blake BallFrom the beginning, Dance of the Manatee is slowly pulling you away from the Fair to Midland you might know (if you're lucky) from Carbon Copy Silver Lining. The production of this record is such that I guarantee you that there isn't another in the world without a major record label that can so (almost) accurately reproduce the eclectic energy that is displayed onstage. The intimacy here is real. In the end, Quince displays the rebirth of a prodigy coming so unexpectedly from east Texas. I love every one of these guys.
WOW!!
author: brysoni don't even know where to start!? Absolutely phenomenal! I knew you guys were good but this album is mind blowing. Everyone who ever gave a damn about music should have this album, this is why FTM does what they do. Thanks for this album you guys, keep producing this kinda stuff and you will turn the music industry upside down!! josh
Best in Dallas
author: ScurtisbrunsonI agree with many others, both a carbon copy silver lining and inter.funda.stifle are amazing. Since I've purchased this CD, I've allowed many of my friends to listen and they ALL love it. Their sound is unlike anything I've heard. GREAT CD. GREAT BAND.
i love this cd too
author: Caitlinboth a carbon copy silver lining and inter.funda.stifle are fucking awesome...all the songs on this cd kick ass!
SCORE!
author: Crayo_Que_SiThis CD (compact disc, not contra dance) is amazing. See Psychofishy78 for more in-depth details.
Kickass
author: Psychofishy78This is insane how awesome this band is and unfortunate how they aren't the most famous thing ever. I still haven't heard full versions of all of their songs. Up here in massachusetts their cds aren't available for some crazy reason. I heard about them by accidently clicking on Dance of the Manatee in iTunes and have been obsessed ever since. This site is my hero for putting up longer versions of the songs. Someone tell Texas to share them with the rest of us!
badass!!!
author: KevinI own both CDs by Fair to Midland and have been watching them since they started. This CD is better than their first - there isn't a bad song on the whole thing!! It's so amazing - you'll just have to listen to believe me.
Great Album
author: MichaelAmazing album... It doesn't have quite as much energy and magic, to me, as the first album and the old live show, but it's still awesome. For most bands, nothing will live up to their first album, as is the case here, in my personal opinion. Overall, it's an amazing album. =) My favorite track is probably "Dance Of The Manatee".
Really Good
author: aaronawesome sophomore cd. whereas alot of bands tend to suck balls on their 2nd cd, ftm gets better, and by better i mean awesome. awesome awesome awesome cd. if you liked ccsl you will love this. every song on this cd is awesome. especiall walls of jericho.
Very well written and performed 2nd album!
author: Roger TFTM's new album freakin' rocks! This highly anticipated 2nd album was very well worth the wait. Hearing alot of these songs live, I just could not wait till this CD entered my player. Guitars, bass, drums, keyboards, and of course vocals: FLAWLESS!! With hits like Dance, Seafarer's, Tibuktu, and Quince, if FTM was a mainstream band, they would definately win all the music awards! If you have this CD, and for some extremely strange reason you have not seen this band live....GO CHECK THEM OUT! They are one of the best live bands ever! It is very obvious they are well rehearsed and blend very well together. Can't wait till the next show and CD!
Desert Island Worthy
author: Adam BeckhamDamned good album. Damned good. ftm now has a unique sound with a much stronger peronality. This album is more more accessible, much easier to listen to for long periods of time. Fantastic work.
good
author: Aaarim tired of the local bands that sound like each other and thats why this is a great record. It goes so many places and touches so many different genres, fuck the dallas review, the cd is great, seriously buy it.
Won't Leave Your CD Player
author: LaurenThis is the best and most original CD I've heard in a long time. It is a purchase that you will not regret. It doesn't leave my CD player and I know it won't leave yours. It's a must have for your collection. -A proud owner of inter.funda.stifle
this cd is so fucking awesome
author: Ashley LaBatethis cd is so unique, i love it!!!! the sound they have is so awesome, everyone should get a copy of the cd!!
Nothing short of amazing.
author: AaronThis cd is amazing. Carbon Copy Silver Lining was great and i enjoyed it, but you guys have pieced together an amazing record. And quince is by far one of the best songs I have ever heard. Amazing.
F-ing Amazing!!! Watch out world, here comes FTM!!!
author: Jamesinter.funda.stifle is what the rock world needs at the moment. This is the most unique inventive CD I have heard in a long time. It is dramatic hard rock at its best. I can't wait to hear these songs in an arena one day. Thanks for such a beautiful album guys.
amazing sophomore album
author: buster cherrythis album somehow managed to exceed my expectations of how great it would be. it hasn't left my cd player for several days and andrew's vocals give me chills every time. every song is excellent and this is an album anyone can easily listen to all the way through. cliff's guitar provides amazing energy in every song and i think anyone and everyone should own a copy
Hope for us all!
author: BigBrotherSo, would calling FTM's inter.funda.stifle a shining light of hope in an otherwise fading Dallas music scene be a corny statement? Sure it would, but it's true. Music that reaches back to the romantics, through the foreign sounds of Africa and the Far East, and is still able to sound fresh and inspiring; amazing. Suddereth's vocal melodies are on another level while the compostions on every track are enough for any musician to envy. Buy it. It will make you happy. Forever.
Addicting great music, I can't stop listening to it
author: Nathan ToonThis album is AWSOME I got the CD at the release show a week ago and, since then, everwhere I go it comes with me. It's hard to explain the genre of music in words. You just have to listen to it, and when you do you will like it I promise.
great cd, most original band in Dallas right now, nothing bad to sy
author: Die-Cast Villain(bassist)this cd is amazing. The interludes in between songs are great and it all truned out really well. There is not much low end on it but aside from the lack of sound of the bass it is really amazing everything turned out quite well. and is great.
very impressive..
author: BlakeThis was a pretty big step for the band as far as sound. And it was definately a step in the right direction. The cd has a really good flow to it and they did a great job the vocals etc.. This cd is very well worth buying.
On a scale of 1 to 10, this record is Al Pacino...
author: Taylorroom101This is the best album I have bought in 2004, and is just that...a great album, each song is as good as the next, and always delivers. There is not one thing I would change about this, except I would own more copies. This is an amazing band, with amazing talent, that has released what I'm sure will become one of my all time favorite records upon listening to it a couple more times. If you dont buy this record, then you dont deserve to have is beauty wash over you.
hooray hooray hooray
author: jordan the miessehooray for fair to midland. what an excellent sophomore release. 'carbon copy' is a memory, as this album is a DRASTIC shift for the better. poignant and beautiful, like so much morbid angel. what? i suggest 'orphan anthem '86'.
