Crossing and mixing between genres, Rummery reveals more of his deft pop hand here. Burn is an instant dancefloor hit, while the thoughtful balladic numbers are radio-friendly but also gutsy. Ulhuru - a driving groover - and Blue are standouts. Cool stuff

Reflexion is a further step into the experiments of Richard Rummery, philosopher, songwriter, producer and multi-musician under the ftprints11 moniker. Tasteful blends of pop and electronica are fleshed out by poignant lyricism and guitar-driven angst. Recorded during 2009, the songs speak of a diversity that draws one to the underlying message, which is positive and memorable. An emotive and powerul singer, with an unusual and rough voice at times Rummery's guitar playing is legendary in his hometown of Armidale, NSW, where he has lived mostly after a stint in proson where he recorded several albums by and for inmates from diverse culural backgrounds (double CD Bravo was financed by Corrective Services!). The album highlights ftprints11's highly ambiguous yet directed approach to the music of the popular, using style as a vehicle to drive the content of his songs home in a very efective way. Originality is abundant, yet accessability is not comporomised. One gets the suspicion that Rummery is on to something, but few can keep up woth this musical Monstroso and penetrating intellectual.
