Album Notes

Fashioned from pure, unrefined emotion, and cold-forged in the scrappy proving grounds that is the Boston rock club circuit; Fugitive Kind is a new voice in these uncertain times. The brainchild of feisty, politically opinionated vocalist/composer/songstress Lydia Rene, the group membership is a relative cream-of-the-crop of New England’s burgeoning indie scene. Featuring the talents of some of Boston’s top rock, Alt, lo-fi and hardcore acts, the result is a stunning synergy of creativity and style that defines the Fugitive Kind sound; Bold, fresh, exciting.

Channeling the spirit of contemporary heroes such as The Arctic Monkeys, Yeah Yeah Yeahs and The White Stripes, while remaining unabashedly individualistic and forward-thinking.

“Our music is designed to wake you up. We are not content with the present, so Fugitive Kind is indie-rock for the future.”

Bolstered by the reception of their 2005 self-released EP
“Propaganda” (Feat. “Run Away”, heard on college radio across the country), Fugitive Kind now releases their 2007 debut 4-song studio EP “Give In”, which was recorded at the prestigious Blue Jay Studios (Aerosmith, George Thorogood), and mastered by Don Tyler (The Pixies, Echo and the Bunnymen, Beck) of Precision Mastering and Jeff Lipton (David Bowie, Wilco, The Magnetic Fields) of Peerless Mastering.

“My God, that girl's voice is amazing.”
-Olga Nunes, Fabulist!

“Fugitive Kind sounds really great... the songs have real interest... vocals sound amazing!!!”
-Ed Stasium, Producer (Joan Jett, The Ramones)

“a little tweaked, like QOTSA (Queens of the Stone Age) or Modest Mouse. It has it's own groove without being too alien to rock ears”
-Colton Dean, Indie Filmmaker

Boston Rockers Fugitive Kind strike New-Indie gold

[...] Fugitive Kind's debut "Give In EP" showcases some phenomenal up-and-coming talent. The tunes range from spooky, introspective musings on humanity to balls-out grit rock to dance-tastic groove fests, occasionally all within the same song. The lyrics are intelligent and well-wrought, especially the single, "Fear of Falling", (which seems to be a subtle meditation on the Religious Right's twisting of religious metaphors to suit its own dastardly ends... [my personal opinion only.]) The Bottom Line is that its great to hear a female-fronted rock group rock so hard. Great vocals, great tunes, Fugitive Kind is definitely a group to watch.
