in english: Are Standstill now rocking in french? No, I’m listening to the first song from the debut-album “Aie” of the swiss trio Fugo. High-class alternative rock with great hooklines and a lot of weird elements. Suddenly there are crashing some breaks and disharmonies into the floating groove of real hits. Inspired by bands such as Fugazi and Quicksand and the before mentioned band from Spain, the music has a touch of its own by independence in songwriting and complexity. Between the 1000s of poprockbands with their verse-hookline-bridge scheme, this album is an absolute refreshment for the ears. The extra ordinary musicians of Fugo offer more than an hour of music for the listener and they keep getting better and better. They just top themselves. The futuristic coverdesign just supports this concept: To get convenient with, kind of other and simply well done. 13 songs on their own will, which make this band a reference with this first cd. Fugo is absolutely not like all the other bands. 10 of 10 while 10 means masterpiece!!! Read more...
