Full Effect are Jan Franklin and Simon Speller who hail from the London area.
Jan has a classical music background and was trained at Chetham's School of Music in Manchester and the Royal Academy of Music in London. Jan plays several instruments and majored in keyboard instruments including piano and harpsichord. During his "classical" period Jan formed a quartet playing Early Music and had the honour of playing live at Beverly Minster Cathedral and on Classic FM radio.
Throughout his school and college life, Jan was well known for his virtuosity in interpreting music written by others and natural ability to improvise and compose his own. It is not therefore surprising that in 1995 whilst at the Royal Academy Jan's career took a significant musical turn when he discovered Dance music, finding this genre kindled an irrepressible urge to express himself musically. He bought a computer and Synthesiser and started writing Dance music.
Jan has been developing a deeper understanding and knowledge of the genre and cultivating his unique style for the last 5 years. Although he has written some 200 songs, it is a testament to his sense of perfection and dedication that he only recently felt his work to be of a sufficiently consistent high standard for release to the public.
Simon's inspiration was born from the Underground Dance Music scene that kicked off in the late 80's. He began DJ-ing and making music, covering all styles. In 1997, he graduated from an advanced course in Sound Engineering at the City of Westminster College. His understanding and domination of rhythm, sound and structure were first demonstrated as a co-member of heavy-techno partnership "Shock to the System" when he released several records that achieved great Underground success world-wide.
"Atlantis" is the debut album of Full Effect. The album blends Jan's talent and understanding of music with Simon's technical wizardry to produce a trance and techno album of remarkable quality and production. The album is sprinkled with techno-inspired anthems and breathes of Ibiza's lively passion and yet it remains fresh and inventive to listeners and dancers alike.
There are 8 tracks on the CD each quite different but forming part of the whole Atlantis theme. From the dark, yet strangely uplifting title track, "Atlantis" to the lively infectious Ibiza 2000AD, you will be mesmerized and enthralled.

Excellent album! Great energetic mix of dark and melodic trance.

The title track gets things started off nicely with a distorted acid line and romping bass before kicking in with an uplifting melody. That's one of the aspects that I loved about Atlantis, how a growling acid line could sit waiting to pounce just beyond the melodic synths - a great mix of dark and hard along side melodic and uplifting. My favourite track would have to be 'Tidal Wave'. It maintains that darker sound that I find very appealing, a big build-up that gives you that sinking feeling deep down in your stomach only to kick into an evil TB-303 sound and finally blending it all together in an energetic track sure to whip any dancefloor into a frenzy!
