Full of Stars is a one-shot electro-pop project by longtime collaborators Jeff Fowler (lyrics, vocals, guitars) and Eric Hirsh (keyboards, percussion, orchestration, programming).
Jeff and Eric were both music majors at UNC Chapel Hill and had always wanted to produce an album using their respective interests in songwriting and electronic production. The album was released on April 29, 2005 with a concert at the Nightlight in Chapel Hill. The Full of Stars project has been put on hold while Jeff and Eric explore the Great Wide World separately, but you'll always be able to buy the album and enjoy the music right here on cdbaby.
Enjoy,
Jeff and Eric

Great smooth low-key electronic pop

Full Of Stars is the collaborative project of Jeff Fowler and Eric Hirsh, two UNC students who are both music majors and who both share a love for electronic music, songwriting and pop music. Stylistically, the band plays a overall acoustic electropop style, where the acoustic guitar is the driving feature of the song, and the electronics serve to accentuate the melody of the track.
The only drawback to such a style of music is that it makes it a little more difficult for the songs to immediately grab your attention. These ten songs won't immediately burrow themselves into your brain and play on constant repeat for hours. These are songs you can put on and play in the background while relaxing and letting your mind wander. "Artie Went To Space" is the only song to break that mold somewhat. It's a little more upbeat, and the song just seems to have much a more mature production approach, and to be bent toward a single release. The strings in the backing of the track are just the perfect touch, I thought. About the only track that really didn't fit here was the first part of "Great Wide World", with it's discordant and strange samples spread over nearly three minutes of time.
This sort of gentle pop is music that you have to be in the right mood for. But when some gentle acoustic pop is just what you're looking for, but you don't want to fully leave behind your electronic music fixation, Full Of Stars will be just what you're looking for. Recommended!
