Album Notes

The New Enchilada gets Bigger , and Better every time Funky Mustard recreate's themselves's. Jazza Mostaza is a sharp turn to the left for the Group . This all Jazz instrumental Cd , with the exception of one song that has lyrics in Spanish , is a slight separation from there prominent Rockin style.
Feel the essence of Herb Alpert & the Tijuana Brass ring through this Alternative Jazz Cd , as well as flavors of Donald Byrd meets Pat Metheny . Heavily influenced by Houston's own KTSU 90.9 Fm ''Jazz in all its Colors'' , the Band returned to the Studio in January of 2007 for what would become Funky Mustard's first Alternative Jazz Cd . Larry White thought there was some unfinished business left in the Studio after finishing their second Cd ''Alma del Fuego'' . He returned from the International Association for Jazz Educators conference in New York City in January of 2007 with a vision of an all Jazz instrumental Cd . Recruiting local prominent musicians's such as Max Dyer on Cello , Drew Rey on Trombone ,Sparky Parker of ''The Rising'' , and Matt Underwood on Lead Guitar's really mixed things up . The Trumpeting dynamics of Tim Glaze , and his Flugal Horn phrasing are the stuff legends are made of . He draws you in on tracks like ''Alma del Fuego'' , and ''Iron Horse'' , and keeps you pinned under with the force only Donald Byrd , and Freddie Hubbard could know. A chance meeting with a Star on the rise 'Tia Fuller' in New York City , would lead to her playing on this total Jazz Instrumental Cd as well . Kevin Crenshaw resident Drummer is back in full swing , and the chemistry is boiling on songs such as ''Jacos Lament'' , and ''Iron Horse 2'' . Gardner Headrick brings the bottom end , and so much more to this Jazzy bag of tricks. Carlos Johnson , percutionist extrordinaire adds just the right touch to these new Gems. There's nothing straight ahead , or Smooth about this Jazza Mostaza (Mostaza is Spanish for Mustard) it is a thick melted down version of what Larry likes to call ''Alternative Jazz'' . A Collaboration with French Pianist Cedric Beauchene of the Paris rock band ''Nord'' proved to be yet another funky mix of music on the track ''Esta Vez'' . Cedric added delightful Piano tracks as well as crisp string arrangements to give this Mustard music a new twist . Music seems to have no boundaries for Funky Mustard with this release , and it shows through in Brilliant color with their new Cd ''Jazza Mostaza'' .
Mustard Fans will not be disappointed with yet another reinvention of the always different , and oh so colorful ''Funky Mustard'' .
