Album Notes

FutureRetro
FutureRetro draws on an eclectic mix of musical styles to create lyrical electronic music that engages the listener with seductive melodies, intelligent narratives and funky grooves.

FutureRetro explores many genres and styles and reflects the diverse nature of its members in both personalities and backgrounds. Music is produced through an innovative working style of concurrently composing and recording. As the name suggests FutureRetro's music embraces both the future and the past and is meta-generic.

FutureRetro began in 1998 when electronic music producer Paul Bambury and song writing duo Ross Goddard and Mark Van Veen began producing music together.

FutureRetro produces electronic pop music with the emphasis on song writing, melodic vocals and lyrics. Mark Van Veen and Gaye Reid perform lead vocals. Fiona Bolton, Deborah Hamilton and Paul Bambury have also recorded vocals for FutureRetro.

FutureRetro's song "Cannot Explain" was recently included on the compilation of electronic music artists Electricity, produced independently by Blatant Propaganda Records. Their cover the 1980's pop hit "We can get together" by Ice House was included on a compilation of Australian 70s & 80s pop titled Refashioned released in 2002 by Groove Scooter Records.

REVIEWS

A cool wash from Futureretro
author: Stromble O Connor
I can only think of nice things to write about these frozen in time crooners from the waste lands of Australia. They make up songs about things that happen in the physical , yet somehow turn it into the metaphysical- speculating on nature, truth and knowledge. Its a cool wash that these dudes bring toweled down by the softness and light of Fiona Bolton who buts in on 'Mondays'with 'you say that out of time is out of mind'- too weird, maybe these guys should be space travellers, leading the quest to discover life on other planets.Instead they crash back to earth on 'Rock City'and accuse the world of negligence'they turn our cities into garbage'so we are feeling guilty for just a moment before realizing that these poor boys and girls are really just junk food wanna be hippies with a miserly tune called'Out there'.I cant get enough of Futureretro because they just seem to know how I am feeling at any given point in the day.
