Album Notes

Gabe Rosenn plays blues, funk, and jazz guitar and just about every combination of the three. Hailing from the Boston area, he moved to LA in 2007 after living in New York City for five years, and attending Vassar College before that. In 2007, he formed the jazz-funk band, Los Devastrados.

From June 2009 through March 2010, Gabe and Los Devastrados maintained a residency at the trendy waterfront restaurant, Tantalum, in Long Beach, CA. With a varying lineup, the band always brought the house down with its unique blend of funk, jazz, and blues.

From June of 2010 through August 2010, Gabe recorded a new EP, California Soul, with bassist, Drew Allsbrook, Kevin Walsh on keyboards, and David Cowan on drums. The group forged a new sound that brought together sounds from Los Devastrados including classics Who Knows and the jazz blues- LA City Blues- while also heading into pop territory with the tracks Love Not Gonna and California Soul.

Since August of 2010, he has been filling the lead guitar chair in the Big Joe Hurt band. www.bigjoehurt.com. With that band he has performed at the LA Music Awards, the Whisky A Go Go, the Viper Room, Bar Lubitsch, Cafe Cordiale, the Court Jester in Ojai, and others.

Gabe's influences include John Schofield, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Eric Clapton, John Mayer, Derek Trucks, Doyle Bramhall II, Grant Green, Kenny Burrell, James Brown, Maceo Parker, the Meters, Galactic, Soulive, among others.
