"These guys rock!" someone shouts. "This is it!"
Yes, but what is this? Three guys on stage, a tattooed drummer, and the other two holding funny looking doubleneck instruments upside-down. They're playing feverishly individually, and it's hard to imagine that those doubleneck guitars aren't part of their bodies. What's more, they play together as though they have some internal connection, as though they have known each other for a long time.
"Hello, we're The Gagan Bros Band," they say. Ah, yes, they have known each other for a long time; they are brothers.
It's obvious, too, that they love what they're doing. Smiling, they dance around the stage, rip into their instruments, and tease the audience. They are enjoying it all so much that the fun spreads through the room and infects everybody.
"The Gagan Bros Band rocks!" someone shouts.
Yes, but what are they doing? The one playing the guitar neck on the doubleneck moves to the bass neck, while his brother moves from the bass to the guitar neck. They're trading instruments, and all they have to do is change necks! The music hits again, rockin' just as hard, and still a blast of fun.
The set moves through funk grooves, shuffles, straight rock'n'roll, blues fast and slow, pop hooks... They play their own songs, and songs borrowed from friends and the famous.
"The Gagan Bros rock!" someone shouts.
Yes, and what's happening now? The brothers jump from the stage onto the dance floor, over chairs, and onto tabletops. The crowd moves with them, excited. A doubleneck is on the floor, being played with a slide. Dancers holler and go crazy. Then the brothers are leaping, instruments flying, music searing.
"These guys rock!"
