"Rust Colored Stones" is the kind of record that calls to mind a snowbound cabin in the Colorado Rockies the way Chris Whitley's "Living With The Law" conjures up the Big Sky of Montana. It's the kind of record that sounds like it was made in isolation, maybe some February spent in the high country with only a guitar and harmonica for company.

Succinct, well-crafted, independent release by an amazing songwriter.

This record is it! Unfettered by the sterile, manipulations of a company in search of a profit. Rust colored stones is a true document of Gregory doing what it is that he does best, which is playing and writing great songs. The album speaks for itself, I don't even need to champion it any further, it is that spectacular. If you have not yet listened to it, do yourself a favor and do so. One of the most honest independent releases I have ever heard. This is the real thing; this musician's character comes straight out of the speakers.
