An honest, uncompromising vision that stays true to itself
author: Joe Ross
Playing Time – 60:07 -- Jon Galfano hails from Beloit, Wis., and the resident of Ashland, Oregon since 1993 has been playing piano since age 7. He’s also a guitarist, composer and vocalist. He had a top ten hit in Wisconsin and was once on David Letterman in 2001, as one of ten weathercasters in Letterman's "Top Ten." To make his musical statement on “Gem Mystique,” Galfano delivers an honest, uncompromising vision that stays true to itself. Complexity isn’t important, but the content is. The picturesque journey through the twelve birthstones is distinctive. Notice the depth of feeling that the composer/performer puts into each note. It is this depth that forms the emotional resonance for his statements about each birthstone. Each gem has intrinsic properties … and musical vibrations. Using piano, strings, and synthesized sounds, Galfano pares away excess sounds to serve up just the right appetizing serving for each. With good understanding of phrasing, tone, timing and rhythm, Jon’s musical moments are succinct, and he leaves us wanting more. Jon Galfano’s music on his “Gem Mystique” and “Going Home” albums can be heard on Mystic Soundscapes internet radio at www.mysticsoundscapes.com (Joe Ross)
