"A GOOD THIEF TIPS HIS HAT" was voted "ALBUM OF THE YEAR" in Rhythm & News Readers Poll 2000 and picked as one of the "BEST ALBUMS OF 1999" by Mixx Magazine. "Eerie yet jovial", this description best sums up their music- raggedy-ass hillbilly punk-floyd folk pop with primitive classical elements and spooky surreal overtones.
These Sleepy Hollow legends draw on the dark mysticism of the Hudson Valley and serve it up with poignant humour, catchy hooks, seductive vocals and hauntingly beautiful songs that go straight to the heart. This music can heal what ails ya. Destined to be a classic...

This band is something special - caught them live at the 2008 Rythmn Festival in UK and was totally blown away - along with eveyone else. One listen to this and I'm hooked again - will be making a permanent space in my CD player (alongside 'Flapjacks')

Excellent recording! This band's vibe is a positive one. Saw them in Ann Arbor MI a couple years ago and after that, I was hooked. Don't pass these folks up!

Many CD's have tracks which are all good in their own right, but become repetitive if you listen to more than a few of them in a row.
"A good thief..." keeps things interesting because not only is each song very good, but each one is in a different style to the next. One minute you're listening to an acoustic-rock ballad, the next it's an upbeat folky number, then it's a slow lament that brings shades of Billy Joel to mind. It really does say something about the creative talent of the songwriters.
Because of the diversity and quality of the tracks, I really enjoy this CD and I've recommended it to most of my friends. I also recommend it to you, dear reader, since you'll probably like at least one of the tunes on it, no matter what mood you're in.
My personal favourite is the track "Never Fit" which, to me, carries the message "Things aren't perfect but if you're happy then that's all you need" which is something I think most of us could do with hearing.
