Album Notes

Zany, mad cap music featuring accordions, fiddles, washboards, and any other inanimate object within reach, played by zany, mad cap men with funny caps on their funny heads. No joke too juvenile. No song too silly. These guys are serious about their silliness. If you don't smile, and dance, while listening to the music of the Garbonzos, there is something wrong with you feet. Have a goood time.

Got Bonzos?
author: Edward Burke, college DJ and, dare I say it, new polka fan

One of things I try to do with my radio show is to keep people guessing as to what kind of music I'm going to play next....I absolutely loathe classification. The same was true when I first heard the Garbonzos. Polka, reggae, bluegrass, rock, blues - it's all in here mish-mashed into a delightfulyl tasty, musical stew so thick, you need a spoon the size of an accordion to crack it. Although one would would assume a grand majority of the songs are polkas, the accordion never takes much of a lead- it's in the backround most of the time letting other instruments shine. This is perhaps polka for people who don't lke polka. Notable tracks include "Give Me Love, Give Me Life", The reggae-tinged "Ho De Mayo", The bluesy "Happy Hour", "Oo-La-La", two short polkas "Gypsy Song" and "Hey Hey hey". Lastly of note is the un-apologetic "Underwear"....hey, this is most of the album....the whole thing basically rocks then!! These guys are a great party band and seem proficient in just about any kind of sound. I highly reccomend this CD, knowing full well what some of my rock/pop friends might say if they find out. This music is now one of my guilty pleasures.
