Garrett Soucy started his career as a songwriter like rhetorical question. It is what it is and, even in its obscurity, it is fairly obvious. His music is primarily crafted from a few basic ingredients: sex, religion, and murder, with an occasional inclusion of humor and self-admitted ignorance. The music is best listened to with cigarettes and tea. Feel free to dislike it. The motivation behind it is twofold: he has the songs in his head that demand their autonomy; and he hopes they will be random 5 minutes of peoples' lives that are either enjoyable or didactic

music with soul! i first heard garrett with tbl in bangor, maine several years ago at the fair trade festival. since then i have bought almost everything they've put out and recently bought garrett's solo work. his music is like meat and potatoes - without needing to bother with the potatoes - or maybe it's tofu - but either way, it stands alone beautifully! of couse, i did not, in any way, mean to suggest that Siiri and Cliff are the potatoes . . .
