A cleverly constructed mix of techno and house music's beautiful love child.
"Beautiful noise...
Quirky dance junkie and Grayhound label founder DJ Garth has assembled an intoxicatingly addictive collection of dance tracks to satisfy even the hardest-to-please body movers.
Choosing to highlight the label's brightest young upstarts, the disc is a seamlessly mixed collage of synth-driven selections for the ears. Beginning with the mellowed out, psychedelic loops of Stranger's 'Over Her Under' to the pulsating drum patterns of Michoacan's '2 Bullets (Disaster)', 'Unleash the Hound' is a cleverly constructed mix of techno and house music's beautiful love child.
Keep on dancin' on." 4 stars.

Be forewarned! Once DJ Garth’s Unleash the Hound takes you by the hand into a never-never-land of wicked, deep & dirty, bass, properly creeping its funk up your spine, you may never want to let go. Composed entirely of Grayhound singles, the album not only makes you groove, but sing, dance, and everything in between. With artists like Michoacan, Patrick Turner and Chris J, and Charles Spencer in the mix, you get an idea of how truly cherry-picked every note, every bump, every funky grind really is. Garth opted for no edits on this album, instead mixing all-vinyl on a Urei mixer. Whether this is plain ol’ skool, or a reflection of Grayhound’s affinity for quality, the result is intoxicating. The album begins with Stranger’s “Over Her Under,” a fantasimically delicious concoction of trippy electric guitar, understated drums, a phat bassline, and funky, acid-tinged house. This perfectly divine funk continues into Michoacan’s, “Back Breakin,” a proper old-skool track, with a distinct Pink Panther-lounging-at-Burning-Man kinda feel. Of course, by the time this loveliness expands into Rocket vs. Peretz’s, “2 Souls Alone,” with its tribal drums, and underground jazz, you know you’re hooked. In fact, by this time, your mind has already left the building, and your soul is dancing on a beach, somewhere, feeling the tropical sunshine warm your skin. Highly recommended. 10/10.
