Album Notes

A true Renaissance man of the blues, Gary Brooks is a whiskey-throated vocalist, versatile keyboardist and showman who can handle everything from cocktail lounge shows to stadium concerts.

Eric Clapton, Ray Charles, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Bob Seeger, Otis Redding, Joe Cocker, B.B. KIng, Sam Cooke, Allman Bros.- you name the act - Gary probably covers some of their tunes. He's a frequent host of the Albany, N.Y.-based "Northeast Blues Society" weekly open jams, has his own band, also works with "Wild Bill & The Rhythm Kings" and "House Project" and has a duo and trio with his partner Milayne Jackson, vocalist. He founded "Brooks Entertainment" in 2000, striving to be the #1 choice for live entertainment needs in the Upstate N.Y. Region. He has "an act to fit any sized room or budget"

His acts have performed at thousands of nightclubs and also in restaurants, weddings, banquets, private parties, concerts, on boats and a train, on local telethons and on radio program interviews.

Gary not only has a repertoire of more than 1000 classic rock, soul and blues songs, he also writes his own material on his debut CD 'Lost in the Shuffle' that has critics comparing him to Clapton, J.J. Cale and Ray Charles.

Thirty-five years in the making, 'Lost in the Shuffle' is anything but. "His whiskey 'n' cigarettes-soaked-vocals really demand attention, " says Greg Haymes of Albany, NY's "Times Union" newspaper. Don Wilcock, author of Buddy Guy's authorized biography and Executive Director of the "Northeast Blues Society" calls it "a beautifully produced showcase CD for his songs that range from classic rock in the Clapton/J.J. Cale vein to his strongest suit, soulful R&B." Bill Camp from "The Baltimore Blues Society" writes, "the eleven originals should please any R&B crowd who like their music with a touch of grittiness. Brooks, Milayne Jackson and a top-notch band cook up enough hot, soulful blues to melt the snows of their Upstate Adirondacks Region." He thinks "Thorn in my Side," an R&B number, "is the disc's best track and has the potential to be a big hit."
