notes

"My favorite act in LA? Probably Gary Jules."
| Nic Harcourt, Host of KCRW's Morning Becomes Eclectic

"Gary Jules' Trading Snakeoil for Wolftickets is at once beautiful and haunting, depressing and inspiring, lonely and welcoming -- delicately crafted folk music of the highest order."
| Benjamin Friedland, Rolling Stone

"The best American singer-songwriter to emerge out of the late '90's -- and the only one worthy of being mentioned in the same sentence with Paul Simon, James Taylor, Cat Stevens and Nick Drake."
| Zeke Piestrup, VH-1's "Fresh Pick of the Week"

"Jules' Trading Snakeoil for Wolftickets is the best album to be released this year, anywhere -- let alone in the triple-A genre".
|Chuck Mindenhall, The Village Voice

"A cross between Tim Buckley and Cat Stevens . . . in the concrete sidewalk of the music business, Jules is that rare flower that defiantly rises up through the cracks."
| Tony Peyser, Santa Monica Mirror

"Trading Snakeoil for Wolftickets takes on a shimmering glow. Gracious and redemptive, it is a rapt, quiescent masterwork."
| Stanton Swihart, All Music Guide

It's been little over a year since the homemade recordings that eventually became Gary Jules' second album Trading Snakeoil for Wolftickets first started to circulate hand-to-hand among musicians and scenesters in the dark bars and back rooms of Hollywood, California. Since then - propelled by nearly constant airplay and live performances on LA's KCRW, a phenomenal string of sold-out residencies both at the Hotel Cafe in Hollywood and Fez in New York City, and the success of his version of Tears for Fears' classic "Mad World" from the cult-hit film Donnie Darko - Jules has emerged from those dingy shadows to win growing international recognition and share the stage with some of today's brightest stars: Jason Mraz, Mason Jennings, Jewel, Sheryl Crow, and Jack Johnson.

Gary Jules' first national recognition for Trading Snakeoil for Wolftickets came when he was featured on VH1's new music show "FRESH" as a "Fresh Pick of the Week", where he was hailed as "the best American singer-songwriter to emerge out of the late '90's -- and the only one worthy of being mentioned in the same sentence with Paul Simon, James Taylor, Cat Stevens and Nick Drake".

Originally championed by Nic Harcourt, legendary host of "Morning Becomes Eclectic" at KCRW in Los Angeles, and by Bruce Warren at WXPN in Philadelphia, "Broke Window", "DTLA", "No Poetry", "Something Else", and "Mad World" from Snakeoil have all received regular college and public radio airplay in the U.S., England, Ireland, Australia and elsewhere. And although Snakeoil is still considered very much an independent release, "Mad World" was even placed in rotation at KROQ in Los Angeles in the Spring of 2003.

Snakeoil has also garnered considerable critical acclaim.

All Music Guide's Stanton Swihart says, "Trading Snakeoil for Wolftickets takes on a shimmering glow. Gracious and redemptive, it is a rapt, quiescent masterwork". Benjamin Friedland of Rolling Stone calls Trading Snakeoil for Wolftickets "at once beautiful and haunting, depressing and inspiring, lonely and welcoming -- delicately crafted folk music of the highest order." Chuck Mindenhall of Sunset Strip Radio (LA) and The Village Voice (NYC) says, "Jules' Trading Snakeoil for Wolftickets is the best album to be released this year, anywhere -- let alone in the triple-A genre".

The grass roots rise of Snakeoil seems the logical next step to Jules' 1998 A&M Records debut Greetings from the Side (now available at CDBaby as well). An All Music Guide review of Greetings, produced by Snakeoil co-producer and Donnie Darko score composer Michael Andrews, and mixed by industry heavy Tchad Blake (Sheryl Crow et al), named Jules "one of the most gifted songwriting talents to surface during the decade", and called the album "a promising, powerful collection of songs". Greetings received wide praise from critics and fellow musicians but barely saw the light of day, having been released just weeks before A&M and its parent company, Polygram, were sold to MCA/Universal in August 1998. Still, the title track was prominently featured in Timothy Hutton's film "Digging to China" starring Kevin Bacon, Mary Stuart Masterson, and Faye Dunaway.

November 2003 will see the releases of 'Snakeoil' in Europe and Australia, with comprehensive tours to follow shortly thereafter.

Gary Jules is an inspiring, smart and great singer/lyricist and i'm glad i got the chance to meet his work (first time i heard hime like most people is on the exellent movie Donie Darko). this album is so calming and good and the cover of Mad World is much better than the source, and one of the most emotional songs ever.

  • I received my CD. I love it. Thanks!

I heard Gary Jules sing Mad World at the opening of a CSI show. I taped it and took it everywhere to find out who was singing. Finally, after a month I found out that it was Gary Jules. I bought two CD's from CDBaby and I am thrilled with them both. I can assure you that I will be purchasing more Gary Jules in the future.

I heard one of the tunes on NPR and just had to look into who he was and how to get his music! I loved this cd so much that I bought one for my friend for Christmas. His music is so lovely and allows me to reminisce back to Crosby, Stills and Nash and James Taylor. Love it (*_*)

Like others, I found Gary's music from the Mad World song. Not knowing what to expect, I was shocked at the quality of his songs and lyrics. DTLA and Something Else are my other favorites on this collection. I hear some sort of cross between Paul Simon and Michael Stipe. Gary's voice is unique and hard to get out of your head. I see no reason his stuff won't sell mega millions...if it would get marketed. Highly recommended.

  • Trading Snakeoil for Wolftickets, best cd I bought this year, maybe ever.
    author: Lisa Bannister

Trading Snakeoil for Wolftickets is the best cd I have purchased this year, maybe ever. My music tastes usually lean towards Andy Williams, Johnny Cash, Dean Martin etc... but I heard Mad World on an episode of CSI and just loved it. I was a little hesitant to purchase a cd from an artist I knew nothing about but decided to go for it. I was happy I did because the cd is great, every song is beautifully written and I am looking forward to purchasing other Gary Jules cd's. I always said there are no artists worth listening to after 1970, Gary Jules has made me change my mind.

  • Great CD!

Many of us got here via Mad World and with good reason. Mad World, the Tears for Fears song remake is one of those rare remakes that completely transfers emotional ownership of the song. • Everything i would hope for in the evolution of music.
    author: Eric T.

Though i thought it unlikely, the lyrical content, dynamics, and all around brilliant implications to the music of this cd blew not only myself away, but every person i know who listens intently to folk/indie. A true inspiration and acomplishment to the evolution of music as we know it. For lack of better words....amazing..

  • Balm for the soul
    author: Cally

As soon as the music on track one starts, I take a deep breath and go into relaxation mode. This is music to read by, rest by, work by, think by. Mindful poetry set to a variety of musical stylings. It's balm for the soul. I love it and can't wait to own Gary's newest release.

  • A wonderful, serendipitous discovery!
    author: Helen

I initially thought that the "Mad World" song was done by REM, and tried to google it but found about this Gary Jules guy. So, I had decided to go for this album, "Trading Snakeoil for Wolftickets"...and what a great discovery! I love his sound, could hear some Simon & Garfunkel, a little Elliot Smith in there. A great album to listen to when on the road driving into the night. And, thanks to CD Baby for sending the CD on a timely matter, in perfect condition. Made things really easy!

  • cool music !

  • the best gary jules cd; best modern folk cd in YEARS
    author: boludo

his voice reminds me of a mixing of elliott smith, cat stevens, n. young, and at times bob dylan. Highly recommend this cd to anyone who likes deep lyrics, and at the same time up lifting and dark songs. best way to listen to the whole cd is from the first song to the end. ENJOY!!

  • Jules Jules
    author: Tina

I love the first song on this cd which is why I bought it. Jules definately has something to say and I love to listen. Cat Stevens revisited.

  • great music!!
    author: Myra

Love the music . Great CD

  • Amazing recording, amazing talent
    author: Dusti

What a beautiful specimen of fine songwriting! Not only are the lyrics thoughtful and the melodies alternately charming and haunting, but Jules' voice has a quality that's both comfortable and otherworldly. I don't like making comparisons, but this disc has traces of old REM (the good stuff) and Paul Simon on it. I'm guessing that's a comparison most singers and songwriters would welcome.

  • just great
    author: MDMPHD

Brilliant - easy to listen to - I can't emphasize enough that Gary Jules is a find - buy this cd AND his earlier one.

  • Listened to it twice as soon as it arrived

  • ORIGINAL SONGWRITING
    author: MICHAEL JAMES MOORE

Great songs. Loved the production and guitar work.

  • author: robin

This cd is amazing and it reminds me of David Bowie, Paul James Berry, and Trent Reznor for the the moody sides. I'll be sure to buy a copy of this when it is back in stock, hopefully soon!

  • Haunting
    author: Jon

By far the best CD I own. This collection of songs brings back the meaning of owning and listening to an entire album end to end. I can listen to these songs everyday and find new meaning and parallelism to the everyday. If you enjoy listening to the depth of music and thought, this is the album for you. If I had only one word to describe the art Gary Jules has created I would call it haunting. Listen and you’ll realize how wonderful listening to a whole album can be.

  • Diamond Jules, Sure do Shine
    author: Bklyn

Gary Jules is astounding. The 1st cut Broken Window is so great I wanted to continue playing it over and over. Diversified is an absolute given when you hear his music. But what captures you is the blending of great acoustic guitar and piano plays with great writing. Influences from Simon & Garfunkel, dare I say John Denver and Neil Diamond. It has that old school with an up to date feel. Sometimes you can’t write about it as well, because only the experience of listening will tell the story. Its just awesome to hear. I played it and loved it. Where it went I followed and the surprises were all pleasant. This is one of the best cd’s I have heard in a long time. Treat yourself to this timeless cd that will go down as the one you bought at the beginning. Gary Jules is a definite for Grammy contention. Its artists like Gary Jules that reminds us what we all been missing and once again sets the standard of excellence.

I ordered this CD because we liked the version of "Mad World" from Donnie Darko. I was pleasantly surprised by the rest of the album! By the second listen-through, several of the tracks sounded familiar . . . always a good sign. I will be looking for other offerings from Gary Jules.

  • Mad World is excellent !
    author: CLARK HAGINS

I remember the first time I heard 'Mad World' on either 91 x or 94.9 down here in San Diego..maybe it was even the old now defunct 92.something "Independent Radio"...all those alterna bands roll together into one...but not Gary's Mad World...its a classic and everytime you hear it, it gets better and its like the first time you are hearing it...like an old 70's classic by Jim Croche or Carly Simon, it just takes you back in time as it tickles your misery bone and completely depresses you happily...A CLASSIC !

  • Just lovely
    author: Kathy

I got this CD because of the Mad World cover, which I love. But the rest of it is wonderful - so nice to listen to - and yes, I think Cat Stevens, but that's certainly not a bad thing!

  • Excellent album and recording
    author: Mike Brandt

Several reviewers have compared this artist to Paul Simon, Cat Stevens and Nick Drake, among others, and that is a fair comparison. He is not a "knock off", however. His songs are touching and well written, for the most part. The recording, for what appears to be an essentially home-made effort, is very good. All in all, an excellent album.

  • Paul Simon??

The perfect album for a lazy, hazy, sunday morning. The first song starts playing, and I always think I've some how mixed this disc up with a Paul Simon disc. Gary Jules is an amazing singer-songwriter who deserves more credit than he gets!!! If you are looking for something that will ease you into your day...look no further!

  • hi, i was listening to your music and heard that song mad world. I had no idea it was you. I LOVE that songg. I heard it at the end of some movie. I forgot what it was called. I honestly thought it was the lead singer from R.E.M. You guys are awsome. Anyway, i just want to to ask. Is it possible to post mp3s for sale? My band is thinking of doing that as a start. It would mean alot to me if you would respond to this message. Zamil25@hotmail.com

I bought this CD for Mad World, but it gets constant play for the other tracks. The kind of music that never gets old. How can I see this guy live?

This was my first time buying this type of CD and I must say I loved it. The lyrics are great and the music and arrangement beautiful.

  • What a great CD!
    author: Dave

It's a shame I hadn't heard about Gary before seeing Donnie Darko because this music is amazing! Every track on this CD tells a story, something not many songs nowadays do. It sort of reminds me of Simon and Garfunkel at times (to me that's a good thing, so don't laugh!). This CD is easily in my top 5 of all time favorites.

  • Great CD
    author: Amelia S

Great CD. There's a bit of all of your favorite folk singers' influence in here. I really enjoy it.

  • Just short of obsession . . .
    author: Rylee

They ran out of Gary's cds when we saw him in Seattle a couple of week’s back, so I ordered a copy for my boyfriend off CD Baby as a surprise. The minute he received it in the mail it became a constant companion. Taking it from home to the car to the office and back again. A bit obsessive but understandable, Gary Jules is a great artist.

I have never in my life heard a song that made me happy and sad "Mad World" did it was like a portal into another world it made me fell like a ireally fell sad and emotional I recomend this song to anyone u might start crying but this song is the siznick

  • A very calming CD with thought provoking lyrics.
    author: KC

I would buy more CD's of his just to listen to the feelings, thoughts and poetry in his songs. The music is very pleasing to listen to without over powering his words.

  • An album that's hard to come by; original and good.
    author: Andrew

Jules' lyrics are definitely unique and enticing, and can only be allowed to flow as a folky tune. I have trouble getting through the CD, though. All I can think about is getting to the finale of "Mad World" at the end.

  • Great CD

  • Just Plain Good
    author: Tamara

The music has a good feel to it. You'll find yourself singing along to every tune. But don't sing too loud or you won't be able to hear the wonderful compositions and the unobstructed vocals.

  • Gary Jules is a Jewel!
    author: TwoPynts (Kort)

I totally agree with the Rolling Stone reviewer. It is great to find a true artist and only wish he had the popularity Brittney enjoys. He hooked me with his Mad World cover from Donnie Darko and now I must have all of his music. You can't go wrong with this one, everyone I play it for loves it!

  • absolutely fantastic
    author: Jeni Falkman

This album is absolutely brilliant and essential. Jules wonderfully blends a beautifully picked guitar with excellent lyrics. His voice is soothing as it is sexy. This is a complete album that offers different strokes for different folks though most will be immediately drawn in by Mad World and my personal favorite: Something Else. Thanks Mr. Jules for this finely crafted work!

  • Refreshing
    author: Denvir

My old musical taste was much darker and much more punk, but Jules has changed my opinions. I can't stop listening to Snakeoil. My favourite is probably Mad World or Barstool (brought over from Greetings From The Side, which I've just ordered). Hope Broke Window does well in the UK singles chart!

  • This version of Mad World is addictive.
    author: Jerry Sabo

I had to buy the album once I heard Mad World played a few times on the radio The album was not available at any of the usual places so I was please to find it via CD Baby. I recommend the album--especially for anyone that wants to hear music from the Bob Dylan, Cat Stevens era.

i love the song mad world...i first heard it in the movie donnie darko and it just fits the movie so perfectly. this is a great song, and the line "i find it kinda funny, i find it kinda sad, that the dreams in which im dying are the best ive ever had" fits me well!

  • Fine soulful pop in the tradition of Jeff Buckley, Nick Drake
    author: Nanojath

An excellent album of fine soulful pop in the tradition of Jeff Buckley and Nick Drake. The lyrics are solid and backed by pretty music that complements Jules' voice. A little more variation - some faster and/or more intense components - would improve the album as a whole. Nevertheless, a fine CD and an artists with a lot of promise.

  • Absolutely Fabulous
    author: Diane Bellomo

I heard "Mad World" on an episode of "Judging Amy" a few weeks ago and decided right then I had to have this version of the song. Imagine my surprise when I discovered I liked *all* the songs on this CD. It put me in mind a little of Art Garfunkel (for those of you THAT old), but Gary also has a sweet sound of his own. I adored this CD from first play.

  • Passionate; Compelling; Moving; Feeling; Addictive...
    author: Ewald

Gary Jules is a true artist, giving emotion and feeling in his performance. "Trading Snakeoil for Wolftickets" is truly a "Work of Art".

  • Be The first to buy in your neighborhood!
    author: Tom Hargest

Now playing on alternative radio in D.C., "Mad World"'s emotional intensity sadly missed by TFF, but captured by Mr. Jules. Cat Stevens meets Brinsley Schwarz? (Anyone remember Nick Lowe?) While the popular cover song is fantastic, you will find the rest of the playlist memorable, not heavy, perfect for some quiet listening. Great guitar. Thank you for some wonderful music! Buy it! And please make more!!

  • even better than I had hoped
    author: Kari

First heard Mad World and the DJ said it was from the Donnie Darko soundtrack. Then, I had to rent Donnie Darko. Music completely fits with the movie. I couldn't get the song out of my head so I went to garyjules.com, listened to all the songs and came here to buy it. Awesome CD with beautiful folk, rootsy music. Relaxing, inspiring, with amazing lyrics. Right on.

  • Breathing new air into Folk Rock!
    author: Aimee Alotta Hamilton

This album is a breath of freah air; fresh air rich in oxygen! For those of us who love lyrical, storied folk rock, this is the best thing to come along in ages. That said, this album has appeal for the masses - I am a 44 year old female, but my 30 year old male co-worker loved it and asked what I was playing. So far, eveyone seems to be enchanted by Gary's voice and style. Try it - you have nothing whatsoever to lose and everything to gain - it'll enrich your world.

  • author: Leslie Evans

Reminiscent of Simon and Garfunkel, Cat Stevens and Nick Drake, I love this CD and highly recommend it. His version of Mad World is the epitome of teen angst, more so than the original. If you enjoy great melodies and lyrics, buy this CD.

  • author: Tiffany

I bought this CD for Gary's cover of "Mad World", one of my favorite songs of all time! Although most of Gary's music is done on acoustic guitar, "Mad World" is worth the whole $16.25 anyway. This guy is a very talented songwriter and a pleasant singer, as well. Plus, CD Baby got my CD to me quicker than any service that has ever provided for me. I got my CD in two days only! Keep it up, guys!

  • Touching, Emotional, Beautiful music

  • sounds like sunshine...
    author: jess

I absolutly love this album. I bought it because I loved Gary Jules version of Mad World...but once I heard "Broke Window" I realized that this album is far more than just an album to listen to for one song. To me, this album sounds like sunshine and rarely leaves my stereo.

  • Can't get it out of my head

  • incredible and diverse artist

gary jules was unknown to me before i heard "mad world" and now i am in love, He has done an amazing job with this song. I love the diversity in his sound, it is refreshing to listen to this artist, i highly recommend him

  • It's a keeper
    author: Clay Jones

Like most folks, I bought this CD on the strength of Mad World (which is a beautiful cover tune... I think it's worth buying the CD just for that song alone). However, I found several other worthy tunes as well. At least 3 other strong songs, together with Mad World, make this CD well worth owning. Give it a try

  • Nice selection
    author: Casey

Nice collection of songs that play very well together. Mad World and DTLA have a very different feel than most of the songs, which are more "folk like". All and all a good album to have in your collection. Should make anyone who likes indie to folk (and everything in between) pretty happy.

  • Good Music, Garfunkel-esque
    author: Dave Walls

I like this cd, Its a good mellow collection. Reminds me of Simon and Garfunkel in spots, which is good wholesome music.(Sarcasm on the wholesome...But good nonetheless)

  • Nice Dinner Prep Music
    author: Lynda Lou

Sounds a bit like Simon & Garfunkel. Not too memorable, but love his version of "Mad World".

  • author: Debbie

Originally bought this CD because of the track Mad World and soon found myself enjoying all of it. Haunting lyrics placed in a folk instrumental setting with undertones of classical background vocals. Another under recognized gem of an artist who's day in the sun should come soon.

Absolutely superb CD. Hope to see another one out soon.

  • Superb - enjoyed by all who heard it!
    author: Meredith

Fantastic music. I played this in my office and everyone who came in asked who it was - turned on about 50 people to Gary Jules and CD Baby!! Ages ranged from early teens to 60's - talk about wide appeal!

  • Too short!!! I want more....

Love the CD, and my ear immediately acclamated it so that it became an instant favorite. Only problem, only 38 minutes! I can't wait to hear more from this artist in "Wolfoil's" vein. Keep on!

  • Indie music is way better than the commercial stuff!
    author: Pam Friese

I've always been a great fan of folk and acoustic rock. But in these days of seemingly endless technical possibilities, and a completely commercialized music industry, it is so hard to come by something authentic, gritty, and true to life. I admitt that I became curious about Gary Jules through hearing 'Mad World' on the radio, and I really love the use of the piano and violin in this song. But I'm glad it made me go online, find CD Baby, and immediately purchase the whole CD! What a gem! Great voice, great music, and real life lyrics... reminds me of Jack Johnson and the likes.

  • Wonderful and diverse!
    author: Rich Spencer

This album cannot be missed, a friend of mine commented that most people would just look at this CD for "Mad World" but it goes far beyond that one track. It has so much to offer. I'd bought "Greetings from the Side" last year and had it playing on repeat for ages, and my copy of "TSFW" from the UK also features the track "Bar Stool" from the first album. Despite being very penniless, I had to buy this ablum, because I have a great love for Gary's music.

  • Nice One
    author: Rob

The track Mad World is not a true reflection of this album, as many tracks are even better - tracks 2 & 9 being my favourites. I wasn't waiting for it to be released in the UK - when the record company decided the time was right for them.

  • Beautiful!
    author: Chris Cargill

As do many folks, I get so annoyed when the local radio stations do not announce an artist, and I had to do some research last week to find out who was doing the amazing version of Mad World -- only to find out it is a local CD Baby artist! How wonderful to hear - there are so many terrific artists on CD Baby, and I'm glad that the industry is giving them an outlet to be heard on the airwaves! Gary, you rock! Your version of Mad World is stunning.

  • Gary Jules is an excellent exponent of thoughtful American folk music
    author: Greg Gilb

Gary Jules is an excellent exponent of sensitive, intelligent American folk music. His music passes between light and shade with a laidback deftness. I particularly enjoyed the darker places that some tracks explore. I am sure this CD will stay with me for a considerable time.

  • WOW - Love it.
    author: John R Lee

As a Brit, heard Mad Mad world on UK TV and radio - bought the CD on spec and I love it. Have not totally understood what it is saying - you Americans string words together differently to the way we do over the pond, making yours difficult for me to understand. However..... Love the laid back production, and find that the lyrics I do understand are making me review my own world in a new light. Keep up the good work.

  • Amazing CD!

Absolutely Amazing!!! I highly recommend it

  • author: mideelo

i heard mad world perhaps a couple of years ago and have been haunted since by Jules' evocative yet understated arrangement of piano and cello - just so delicate and lovely! when i finally tracked his cd down and played the other songs, i heard such a great mixture of influences: Roger McGuinn (the Byrds!), the late Elliot Smith, Nick Drake, the late Jeff Buckley, Cat Stevens, Paul Simon...Gary Jules is in tight with the poets!

  • lovely!

Why is this not released in Ireland til January! I'm putting money on the fact that Gary Jules & The Group Rules will have a number one album in Ireland and England by the end of January, and hopefully the Christmas #1 too. The fact that I can't even remember the Tears for Fears version speaks volumes about the impact that Gary Jules' Mad World has had on me. I haven't bought a single in about 6 years, but bought this after hearing the last 30 seconds of the song on MTV. Gary Jules does indeed rule.

  • PLEASE come to Pittsburgh

  • Excellent, thoroughly enjoyable, Mad World a Gem
    author: Joe Boyle

Refreshing, in the Mode of James Taylor or David Gray, the same kind of smooth if a little meloncholic feel to it; which is no bad thing. Version of Tears for Fears Mad World is a Gem, Garys own Broke Window also superb whilst the rest of the album is pretty good. CD Baby's service and humourous email! to be recommended as is this Album

  • Good CD, Haunting Mad World is superb
    author: Ian Rawlins

This cd is a realxed affair with many tunes that although good in their own rights, do tend to blend into one another. The track that stands out from the crowd is the haunting Mad World (From the soundtrack for Donnie Darko). This tune is worth buying the cd for on its own, but you'll be dissapointed if you expect the rest of the cd to be the same. Overall a nice undemanding listen. The service received from CD Baby was without exception the best I have ever experienced, very refreshing in todays consumer unfreindly environment.

  • A great piece of beautiful melancholia
    author: Wesley M. Chicko

This CD is one of the most beutiful and melancholy albums I have heard recently. Elements of this album remind me of some of Nick Drake's stuff: while the lyrics tend to be sad, the music doesn't necessarily support the sadness, tending to be brighter than the lyrics might suggest. Great mood music, and I'd recommend to anyone looking for a great new addition to a growing folk or Americana collection.

  • Made me buy music again...
    author: Zielinski

I pretty much stopped buying music after I bought all of James Taylor's and Cat Stevens' stuff. I heard Mad World and it got me curious, so I listened to the samples off of CDbaby's website. This CD is outstanding! It is the best music I've heard in a long time, and it's encouraging--finally--to know that there are some truly talented songwriters out there waiting to be heard. I could listen to this CD--and I mean every song--over and over and over.

  • Like an old friend
    author: Terri

I'd never heard these songs before, yet they were instantly familiar to me - like an old friend you haven't seen in years yet you just pick up where you left off. I've never experienced anything quite like this - a deja vu experience, maybe? I froze when I first heard Mad World on Donnie Darko, then on a Without a Trace episode...where did I hear this before, I thought. At first I thought Neil Young, then, no, maybe Cat Stevens, then, no, who the heck is that? So I bought the CD and found myself singing along to DTLA, like I already knew the words but I'd never heard it before. The same with the other tracks. There's not a song I don't like on this CD, which is very unusual because I'm one of those who never buys CDs because I usually find I like only one or two songs and that's it. Not true with this one. If you're a baby boomer like me, you will LOVE this CD! And if you're not a baby boomer, then you need get this CD to see what all the fuss is about. This is pure music that speaks to your heart and soul, and that's what music is supposed to do!

  • An amazing CD. Something for everyone!
    author: bAGGEE

A wonderful follow-up to his first CD. Gary Jules has created an exquisite sound worthy of high esteem. Fans of bands such as Simon & Garfunkl, CCR and America should definately give this a listen. I wasn't sure what to expect for Jules' sophomore effort and couldn't be happier with purchasing this album.

  • This is music that gets into your head and sticks! Wonderful stuff.
    author: Craig Schultz

It's such a shame the wider music world doesn't get a chance to hear an artist of this caliber. Gary's songwriting is exemplary and the delivery is soft and smooth, yet quietly powerful. He deserves much more recognition. This CD has been in my player for weeks...and I can't get enough of it....and friends that have heard this are amazed that Gary is still a secret. Pass the word....and hopefully this status will change soon. A 'one-of-a-kind' special CD.

  • author: MJ

There's nothing in this music that doesn't need to be there. It's lean and beautiful. And his cover of "Mad World" finds the pathos that lurked under the Tears for Fears original...

Like a lot of folks, I tracked Gary Jules down after hearing his incredible haunting version of Mad World on a television show. I bought the album and am enjoying it in its entirety. • What a great CD - worth every penny (Cent)
    author: James Wood

What great music, I first heard of Gary Jules on Donny Darko, but I now have to admit, i'm hooked. The only problem is - you can't get any of Gary's music in the UK

  • A first-rate collection of songs
    author: Andre Monteiro

As probably most people (at least outside LA), I discovered Gary Jules through his amazing and totally devastating cover version of Tears for Fears' "Mad World", featured prominently in the movie "Donnie Darko". After listening over and over the entire album my impression is that Gary Jules is an artist with the potential to become one of the most important songwriters of this decade. A decade of uncertainty and lost illusions, where "there is no backdoor to innocence" and "you're lucky if you save yourself". Overall the album manages to keep a homogeneous feel and texture, with some tracks definitely standing out: "No Poetry", "Lucky", "Something Else", "Pills", "Umbilical Town" and finishing in a totally devastating hopelessness hue with the already mentioned version of "Mad World". ...Only if beauty hadn't to be so heart-shattering...

When I heard Mad World for the first time on TV (The Third shift), I tried to find out who it was. Nobody knew so I had to write to the TV station to get the song and artist. I then tried to buy this CD in Sweden, but most of the shops had never heard of Gary Jules. So I´m really glad that I find CD Baby on Internet.

When I heard the stunning "Mad World" in Donnie Darko, I knew I had to hear more. I wasn't disappointed in this amazing album.

  • Awesome blend of styles!
    author: LLP

It's very seldom that I like the cover version better than the original but MAD WORLD haunted me so badly I had to go search the Web until I found it. I wasn't disappointed when I played the rest of the CD, either. The range of musical style keeps the album fresh throughout and a joy to listen to over and over again.

Just got this today, listened to it twice!! This is not the type of album that's gonna take me a while to get used to, i love it. Mad world got me hooked but the other tracks have their own flavour that ain't dark, but ain't light either, some of the lyrics had me paying attention too. It's all good!! :->

  • AUTHENTIC

  • I know good...and this is good!
    author: Joyce Blankenship

Heard this song on Without a Trace last week and decided I had to find out what it was. Thrilled to have it arrive so quickly in the mail. Can't believe I've never heard of this guy before. (I'm 60 and have always known good music from bad) Smile.... Mad World deserves much more recognition than it's getting.

  • Excellent -- especially the cover of "Mad World"
    author: jenithea

I haven't really listened to the rest of the CD frequently enough for it to sink in yet, but whether it grows on me or not, the CD was more than worth it just to get Gary Jules' cover of "Mad World." It is one of the most poignant and moving songs I have ever heard. His rendition really allows the true meaning and mood of the lyrics to shine forth.

    author: Marc (UK)

The version of 'Mad World' sent shivers down my spine. From this one moment I was introduced to a whole album of treasures. Very rarely does one find such beautiful and inspiring music. Gary Jules is a song writing talent of such quality that can rival any of the others in the world today. Every home should have one.

  • I love the album!
    author: NDA

A beautiful album full of songs that span the joyous to the somber. Each song is its own well-written story that draws you in. "Broke Window" and "No Poetry" remind me of the best of Simon and Garfunkel's songs, while "Umbilical Town" suggests a less somber Nick Drake. A wonderful record!

  • Seductive and Intimate
    author: Sara Niesen

Gary Jules' melodic voice is scintilating. His album is soft and haunting, and leaves me craving more. Come on Gary, keep them coming! This artist is one to watch - I guarantee Monsiuer Jules' music will continue to grow and somehow manage to get better. "How?" you ask. Just wait, you'll see. I am anxious to hear his career unfold from my speakers. Until the next album...

I like this fresh sound of folk music...

  • Refreshing music, with a voice as distinctive as Dylan or Springsteen
    author: Ross

Excellent album through and through - Jules' voice is refreshing and distinctive, such a nice change from all the crap on the radio. I heard his song Princess of Hollywood on NPR and ordered the cd...good decision. The song from Donnie Darko is incredibly touching and spooky, and The Boat Song is also a favorite. Hell of an album.

    author: Ellie

This CD is absolutely beautiful. After hearing the cover of Mad World, I assumed it would be a piano led album, and I was suprised to find out that it was a lot of really sweet guitar music. I really really enjoyed this CD and it should be available in stores in the UK!

  • One of the new greatest
    author: Tom Van Avermaet

If you enjoy or pretty much like the whole Singer/songwriter scene and/or genre, pick up this CD. It's a must have for anyone who enjoys well written songs and Gary's vocals are as always excellent and keep you wanting to hear more. Also check out the also excellent 'Greetings From The Side'

  • Buy this album you will not be dissappointed.

A beautiful album with a great mix of tracks. I was orginally made aware of this album from Donnie Darko and the track Mad World. Now I find I play this album from begining to end (Rare for me). Many stand out tracks - no bad ones. My favorite track is "Something else" Great for the car or a winter's morning with hot coffee in front of Electrostatic speakers.

  • Great lyricist, great voice
    author: Leslie

I thoroughly enjoy this cd both for the lyrics and for Gary Jules unique voice. Of course we all love Mad World, but I was impressed by the rest of the album as well. A great cd to chill to, read to, have dinner to, whatever...I recommend it!

  • Great acoustic cd
    author: Sara

The cd arrived in excellent condition and is great! My favourite track is Mad World.

  • Stand-out Mad World introduces other treasures.
    author: John Flannery, Australia

While the triumphant Tears For Fears cover, Mad World, will draw many people to this album, there are other treasures waiting to be discovered. Jules' voice sounds one minute like Stipe, then Paul Simon, with hints of Cat Stevens on occasion, but it's his voice and his songs that make this Gary Jules album worth having. Marked down only on inferior production on some songs.

  • author: Gassy for Donnie and Jules

author: Steve Taylor, WHQR-FM, Wilmington, NC

I'm a 60-year-old guy. My late father was a tin-pan-alley lyricist, so I love this stuff as an art form. My kids and my younger friends turn me on to a good young songwriters, so when I heard "Princess of Hollywood Way," I bought this CD. After hearing it several times through, it's clear to me that Gary Jules is the real thing. These lyrics gleam with truth; I was moved by the eloquence of "Something Else." This is really fine music.

Great cd!! Relaxing and calming, very enjoyable to sit and listen or to drive to. Well worth the money! Don't pass this one up:)

  • Yes sir, it's the genuine article alright.
    author: holdencaulfield101

What can I say? I was blown away. Subtle melodies & harmonies that would make Simon & Garfunkel jealous - intelligent lyrics - and a haunting version of Tears for Fears Mad World (used in the very cool Donnie Darko movie) that surpasses the original and now stands as the definative version. Smooth.

  • Great Singer Songwriter
    author: idog1969

Right up there with the best singer songwriters. Hints of Nick Drake, Michael Stipe and Paul Simon to name a few. Better than anything on the radio today. Solid from beginning to end. Highly recommended!

I bought this album on the strength of 'Mad World' and it has certainly lived up to my expectations. Understated, unassuming, downtempo, folksy, chilled out. The songs are solid and it sounds very good, over and over again. They are obviously real musicians playing real instruments - no computers here. Five stars plus.

I bought this CD for the cover of Mad World, and was pleased to read the great reviews of the other songs. I was really really pleased when I listened to the CD - these songs are great, after listening to the CD once, I felt like I had listened to it over and over - it feels like music I have always known, very comfortable.

  • My new favorite cd!
    author: psycat

I bought the cd after a friend played "Mad World" for me, expecting (as usual) to find only 2 or 3 songs i liked. Loved it! As I listened for the first time, each song became my new favorite. Absolutely no regrets.

  • Excellent stuff - me likes it!
    author: Judes Scutter

This album has some very catchy, pleasant & easy-listening pieces with great lyrics - for example "You're just a single-malt swamp clown, waiting for splash down, the accidents know you by name". My opinion is that it's class above a lot of the more 'popular' hard-sell commercial stuff by overrated, better-known, better-financed artists. Trading snakeoil for wolftickets is muchly deserving of more recognition and air-time. If I hadn't stumbled upon this album by accident, through searching for "Mad World", I never would have discovered it.

  • author: Pär WInberg

I came across Gary Jules when I purchased his A&M release "Greetings From The Side" back in 1998 And I was happy when I tracked down his home on the Internet quite recently and found out that he’d done a new album. And here I am with it. It’s a softer experience than his last effort and it’s even better than "Greetings From The Side". This is actually a damn good moment in softer singer songwriter pop. Like Simon & Garfunkel mixed with Neal Casal, but all done with a little more modern edge. Beautiful stuff. I can’t thank Internet enough. It’s an ocean filled with music you never would have come across otherwise. What about favourite tracks then? Well third out “”Downtown L.A” is like Sheryl Crow on her way to a soft Pete Droge with a pop-edge and the softer “Something Else” is a very beautiful journey that Ryan Adams would have been proud of and there are much more tunes on here in the same calibre, like ninth out “The Princess Of Hollywood Way” with a great Paul Simon-vibe all over. A good Paul Simon that is...

  • Mad World is spellbinding but there's more!
    author: Rebecca Cortes

I don't think I'm the only 'not into folk' listener to buy this cd for the Mad World track, which btw is beyond comparison to the original. However, after listening to the entire cd only one time I found myself joyfully surrendering to some of the most creative, honest, and inspirational music I've heard from any genre.

  • Folk rock for a new generation
    author: Isaac Clemens

First heard "Mad World" watching Donnie Darko, and it so perfectly captured the essence of the movie and the poignancy of the end I had to know more. Jules' influences are pretty clear--I hear chords of Simon & Garfunkel, a little James Taylor, some Cat Stevens, etc. in his music. He generates awesome tension with light, subtle vocals--I regard his musical sensibilities highly. Hope to see him in concert--just so long as he doesn't mimic James Taylor's worn out "sensitive troubadour" image.

  • Wonderful Vocals and Lyrics
    author: cyberties

I bought this album after listening to the snippit. His voice is melodic and unique, but his lyrics are what grabbed me. Insightful, poetic and very evocative. Buy it and you won't regret a minute spent listening to this cd, nor the money spent to acquire it.

    author: Leib

I've already lent my copy of "Trading..." to my housemate, who heard it on the stereo hours after I received it in the mail, and now refuses to give it back! It's a sad and beautiful album whose folk street cred caught me totally by suprise, having heard "Mad World" (and falling for it like a lovesick 14-year-old) on the soundtrack to Donnie Darko. Highly recommended if you like this sort of thing... and even more highly recommended if you don't know that you do... destined for many a mix tape...

    author: Grande

Gary Jules needs a push on this CD, its very good! His vocals and song selection mesh perfectly. His cover of an unappreciated Tears For Fears song "Mad World" is so good that Roland Orzabal (TFF)said it is the version he likes the best!

  • Transcending time and style
    author: Budd

While watching an episode of Third Watch, I was mesmerized by a song "Mad World"... and there it was again in Donnie Darko. After some searching, I found Gary Jules and bought Trading Snakeoil. What did I hear? Cat Stevens resurrected. Paul Simon with poetry instead of prose. Dave Wilcox with a soft edge... but, amazingly, I heard them all at once. I heard a writer/artist who shrugs off contemporary trappings and stylings and delivers pure and true stringed emotions. Thanks for bringing me back to a magical time and sound with "Trading Snakeoil".

  • Cat Stevens meets Bob dylan meets James Taylor
    author: Nate Dog

This is a cool c.d. The influences are obvious, but he has a sound and songwriting style that he can call his own. If you like James Taylor, Cat Stevens, and Bob Dylan, check this c.d. out!!!!

Haunting, stunningly beautiful. While other CDs come and go from my player, this one just won't leave:)

  • One of the best!
    author: Krystal

This CD sounds like a combo of Simon & Garfunkle and Gomez. Soulful, energetic...words can't even describe it! I'd recommend this to anyone tired of half-dressed popstars and self-obsessed "rock" bands.

  • Oil Wolf?
    author: Slud Grickman

This is what Cat Stevens would have sounded like if he hadn't turned to Mecca. The album sounds like Paul Simon's Paul Simon album but more summery, and with an undoubtable amount of Los Angeles influence. You can almost hear the aching boulevards and Mann's Chinese theatre rippling beneath Jules' strummy craftwork and skilled lyricsmanship.

  • Real nice sound. Cross between Jimmy Buffet & James Taylor
    author: Steven magnus

With so many groups sounding the same these days, this CD has its own unique sound...very refreshing. W/ a little air play, this could be a great one.

  • LOVED IT, The man can sing!

The CD is wonderful. It is very soothing to listen too. I always feel more relaxed after I have listened to it. I recommend this album for everyone.

  • Dreamy Americana
    author: Charlotte

I've called this album a cross between Paul "Graceland" Simon, Badly Drawn Boy and Shawn Mullins but I don't think that begins to cover it. An endlessly pleasing combination of often bright soundscape and Gary Jules' melancholic voice, Trading Snakeoil meanders gently between lyrical tales of LA life to a stark and transcendently beautiful version of 'Mad World'. I pick a new favourite every day.

I love this CD so much. After hearing Mad World on Donnie Darko, it stuck in my head for weeks. Then just as I get it out of my head, I'm watching 3rd Watch and it's on there. That's when I knew I had to have the CD. It was my mission. It's now been stuck in my CD player for weeks and it isn't getting out anytime soon. Great CD. Great songs(like poetry).

  • A breath of fresh air
    author: emma

I was very impressed by this CD and straight away thought it's Cat Stevens meets Jack Johnson.I was probably most taken with the cover of T4F's Mad World. It is rare to hear a remake these days that outdoes the original. It's one of the most beautiful songs I think I've ever heard. My other favourite is No Poetry. Then entire album is a breath of fresh air.

  • Jules returns to music that is essential, authentic.
    author: William

Trading Snake Oil for Wolf Tickets returns to the tradition of Cat Stevens. Not only are Stevens and Jules' sounds similar, but so is their approach and subject matter, speaking truths of life and experience. Particularly compelling are the tracks Something Else and the cover of Tears for Fears' Mad World.

  • Loved the cd. Great remake of Mad World.
    author: Sarah

Loved the CD. It is kinda slow, but great for listening to when your in a mellow mood or in need of a little lamenting. Great remake of Mad World. Worth buying!

  • Brilliant and refreshing
    author: Adam

This was a very good cd. Trading Snakeoil for Wolftickets was very well done. The music and lyrics were refreshing and very unique. Gary Jules is unlike any other artist out there. Most artists are just carbon copies of the current pop stars. Trading Snakeoil for Wolftickets was different from all the other preprogramed songs out there. I bought this cd because of the song Mad World. I was suprised out how good the other songs were. The melodies stay with you. I have not taken the cd out of the cd player.

  • transcendent
    author: karen k

this album weaves quite the spell ... sparse, rich orchestration, velvety-smooth vocals and lyrics that deepen with every listen. references to cat stevens and nick drake are fair enough, but make no mistake: gary jules stakes out a territory all his own.

  • Music simply does not get any better than this.
    author: Holly Shepard

The music of Gary Jules is really quite astonishing in every way - lyrically, musically, artistically. At times his music recalls the best works of other great singer, songwriter, musicians including Paul Simon, Cat Stevens, James Taylor, and Neil Young. Yet, Gary Jules manages to capture a style and sound that is distinctively his own. Whether he is crying in his beer in the honkey tonk, Barstool, taking a dark, but sophisticated look at enmeshed relationships, as in Owen Down, or reaching for your soul in his rendition of Mad World, you wind up with the same thought at the end of every song: Damn, this guy's music is really, really good. Gary Jules has somehow managed to find that place where simplicity meets sophistication. In a word, his music is groovy. The music on Greetings From the Side and Trading Snakeoil for Wolftickets is easy, and effortless, and timeless. You simply want to hear more of it. I, for one, am looking forward to a future that includes more music from this very talented man. In the words of another great songwriter, long may you run, Mr. Jules. Long may you run.

  • Fantastic, inspirational, thought prevoking, refreshing
    author: Bob Watson

Bought the CD on the back of hearing 'mad world' and have not stopped playing it since. Gary Jules truly stands out above the crowd. His album is a breath of fresh air, and a pleasure to listen to. relax, chill out and play GJ.

  • Calm, intelligent lyrics atop great melodies
    author: Dingo

The comparisons to greats like Paul Simon are well-deserved. The music is beautiful, and the songwriting is some of the best I've heard in years. This was my first of many purchases from CDbaby, which is one great source of music.

  • Great listening
    author: Steve Lewis

Like most everyone else, I first heard Gary Jules on the Donnie Drako soundtrack (really good movie). I found the CD on cdbaby.com and played some of the samples and liked them enough to order. Needless to say, I really enjoy the entire CD, including the haunting version of Mad World. I am looking forward to hearing more from Mr. Jules.

  • Refreshingly talented work, mellow and poetic, and desperately needed!
    author: Carla Spurgeon

Trading Snakeoil for Wolftickets is an inspiration to think more, create more, and learn more...from a band that pays attention to life. To find poetry within music is a modern-day rarity, but the emotions of the artists found their way to my ears.

  • getting more hooked on it by the minute!
    author: Valerie

Unbelievable. I hadn't ever heard of Gary Jules until Donnie Darko and then again on a t.v. show that I'm a little ashamed to name :) I've had it for 48 hours and have already gotten a handful of friends hooked--anyone that likes Cat Stevens and Elliot Smith is sure to love this cd!

  • author: Hex

An amazing CD through and through. "No Poetry" is easily one of the most captivating songs Ive heard in recent memory. If you appreciate an undertow of sincerity in your music, THIS CD is for you. I would also suggest "O" by Damien Rice.

  • Gary Jules is brilliant. simply brilliant.
    author: Jeff Foxx

How have I gone for so long without hearing of Gary Jules? With all of the fluff and chum they play on modern radio, real artists like Gary Jules are getting overlooked. This CD has a refreshingly simple sound. It reminds me a lot of other singer songwriters like Paul Simon, Bob Dylan, and Michael Penn. When I listen to it, I feel like I'm sitting on the porch while Gary strums the guitar and sings the most heartfelt lyrics. The song that I find most brilliant and most poetic, is the ironically-titled No Poetry. Melodically soothing, lyrically moving. Immediately, this album is one of my all-time favorites.

  • Refreshing
    author: Lucia

It's refreshing to listen to music that doesn't assault the listener. This is music that sneaks up on you and gets under your skin. When you find that one song that suits you, you get addicted.

  • Cat Stevens Revisited
    author: Jennifer Lynn

Having grown up surrounded by the sounds of my mother's Cat Stevens, Simon & Garfunkel and Harry Chapin records, this album feels like home. Beautiful melodies, great story telling, brilliant song writing. This album just makes sense.

  • Why Not In The UK?
    author: Gregor

Like many others I loved Mad World when I saw Donnie Darko and had to hunt through the net to discover Gary Jules and then was forced to order this CD as it has no UK release, which is crime. Its beautiful, calm, organic music and deserves a wider audience.

  • Hasn't left my CD player since I got it...
    author: Trevor Gerhard

Makes you wonder just how many artists like Gary Jules there are out there, flying below the radar just waiting to be discovered. Sparse, visual, romantic, intelligent, great!

  • The USA's best kept secret
    author: Paul Carless

Having heard “Mad World” in the film Donnie Darko I had to find out more about Gary Jules. I ordered this album from CDBaby on a Saturday and it turned up on Tuesday...not bad considering we live in the UK! Like a cross between The Byrds and REM, the album is not what I expected. The album is full of beautifully written and performed songs, but if you were expecting an album full of haunting melodies like “Mad World” you’d be disappointed. The standout tracks are “No Poetry” and “Something Else”. I found “dtla” to sound like a poor attempt to sound like David Gray with the drum machine laden beat too much for an album like this. I cannot believe an album of this quality has relegated to the only-available-over-the-internet league. This guy deserves more, much more recognition. If ever Gary Jules comes to the UK I would definitely like to see him live. Keep up the great work.

  • Grows on you
    author: Joan in Denver, Colorado

I originally discovered Gary Jules via the movie, Donnie Darko. His version of Mad World is poignant and haunting. I originally debated on puchasing Trading Snakeoil since I already had the Donnie Darko CD. I am not a big James Taylor/Cat Stevens listener or into that particular music genre, but Gary Jules' music has grown on me and I quickly becoming an avid fan.

  • Trading Snakeoil is a must have for music lovers everywhere

Trading Snakeoil is a remarkable record. Truly. What amazes me the most is how familiar these unique songs seem to me, as if they're being resurrected from deep within my sub-conscious. I connected with each song immediately. And Gary's interpretation of "Mad World" rivals Jeff Buckley's version of Cohen's "Hallelujah" as the greatest "cover" ever! He owns that song now.

  • That list is one marshmallow short of a Count Chocula, isn't it?

"In March Jules was featured on VH1's new music show "FRESH" as a "Fresh Pick of the Week", where he was hailed as "the best American singer-songwriter to emerge out of the late '90's -- and the only one worthy of being mentioned in the same sentence with Paul Simon, James Taylor, Cat Stevens and Nick Drake." Well, I think we've left a few names out of this, haven't we? How about Elliott Smith for starters. Marc Cohn, Stuart Davis, Brooke Ramel, Nick Laird-Clowes, Grant-Lee Phillips, and Gary Brooker? By the way, did you know you can get Gary's 1st album too? I did by writing to him at Gary Jules Music, 723 N. Wilcox Ave., Los Angeles, CA 90038 and send $15 plus $3 for S&H.

  • lyrically great, sonically moving, rhythmically addictive

It all started with Mad World for many people, which is here on this CD. These tracks are of incredible rhythmic building that take you by control and guide you from start to finish. From his superb prior CD, Greetings From The Side, to this collection, one can hear the growth and extension that has taken place. It's earthy, it's real, it's stirring, and it has atmosphere. It builds you up as you wait for that one chorus or that one swell of instruments that allows you to shake out the mood so adequately! A great driving CD or in the office! This is real music folks.

This album really calms me and allows me to think. Voice and music are reminiscent of Simon and Garfunkle without being derivative.

  • Amazing

This CD is amazing. Beautiful piano, mandolin, and guitar play against light percussion and this artist's amazing voice -- the effect is sometimes haunting, sometimes mournful, sometimes more light-hearted. I will guarantee any listener that you will have the melodies and lyrics from this CD in your head for days on end. Originally, I bought the disk for the cover of "Mad World" that was featured in the Donnie Darko film. I'm glad I did -- a new artist to list among my favorites. Bottom line -- Amazing.

This record keeps me sane as I drive home on the 405. You will be in my six-disc changer forever!

  • On the strength of 'Mad World' alone, excellent

I watched Donnie Darko on dvd a few days ago and discovered Gary Jules' video of his cover of Mad World. Since then I've not managed to get either the song (which never had this impact on me in its original form) or his voice out of my head. I've ordered the CD and will not be disappointed.

  • Quality!!

I live in England and imported this because of reviews I've had from some friends etc. Was not disappointed at all - album is fantastic and worth every penny (or dollar!), it hasn't left my cd-player since I bought it!!
