Album Notes

Gary McVay's release, "Your Volunteers Stand True", contains nine military tribute songs and five Southern Gospel songs.

First we want to thank Tim Rose,Jr. an artist from Beaufort, South Carolina, for the cover art work on this cd.
Kirk's friend Tim, gave of his time to make this original colored pencil drawing for the album cover.

SONG INFO:

Track #1, contains the hit song of Marine Corps Valor, "And They All Came Home But Me (Once A Marine)", performed by Gary McVay.
The song was later taken worldwide when reworked and cut by Singer/Songwriter, U.S. Marine Veteran, Chad Van Rys

Track #4, "And Have You Ever Known"
In the first verse, the song follows the Medal of Honor recipients, the late, MSG Gary I. Gordon and SFC Randall D. Shughart, that gave all they had in "Operation Gothic Serpent" (Black Hawk Down), trying to save their brothers.
The second verse names the first Medal of Honor recipient of Operation Iraqi Freedom, the late, SFC Paul Ray Smith, as he stayed on his .50 cal. so others may live.
The last verse asks the question, "Who will defend your precious ones?"

Track #3, "The Ballad of Toby Keith (Freedom's Voice Lives)".
Mr. Keith has stuck by those who serve, this song gives him a "High Five" back.

Track #9, is the song titled,
"The Ballad of the Night Stalker (NSDQ)".
Kirk wrote the song to honor his fallen friend,
Chief Warrant Officer 3 Donovan L. Briley,U.S. Army.
CW3 Briley was one of the pilots in the lead aircraft
in a multi-aircraft flight on the assault of an objective in downtown Mogadishu.
Many know this story from the 2001 award winning movie, Black Hawk Down.

ABOUT GARY McVay...

Gary McVay, the owner of Gloryland Recording Studio.
Gary uses his studio and talents to spread God's Word with music.
Gary worked for 20 yrs. on stage at the Smoky Mtn. Jubilee where he played steel guitar and sang lead and baritone in the Jubilee Quartet. He decided to step down from the stage to go "full time" in the studio, and to sing in churches when he would get the opportunity.
Gary teamed up with Kirk and Kirk,Jr.(Wes) to produce "Your Volunteers Stand True", as a tribute to the men and women that serve and have served in our armed forces.
Gary McVay is a veteran, as is Kirk W. Boland,
so their common interest to produce a work that honored our military heroes was an easy fit.

I hope you enjoy this CD, and if you run into any of our "Military Heroes", thank them for your freedom.
