Album Notes

Gary records in his home studio playing guitar, keyboards, bass, and mandolin. He is self taught and inspired. He has played in bands and musicals, and he has performed and recorded with Steve Gatlin of the Gatlin Brothers, Percy Sledge, Rockette Morton, and impressionist Rich Little. He appears on "Owe Spirit" by Sherry Iles, and prominently on two Paler's Project double CDs, "From Shadow to Shadow," and "Trace of a Feeling" - albums commemorating the great British classic rock band, Procol Harum. At times his guitar style even reminds us of the great Robin Trower: Commented Procol Harum leader, "guitars that sound more like Trower than Trower." Another reviewer of these works writes of Gary Shepard - "the guitar work is stunning, and very Trower-esque."

Various talented friends add their vocals on this fine debut CD by Gary, but just as memorable are the highly creative instrumental numbers here; from the haunting "Femme Fatale" to the Tommy Emmanuel inspired "Morningside Heights." The moods and genres are varied, as are his own interests. He currently plays with the classic rock band he started, Lo Down Brown in Aiken, South Carolina.
