"FROM NOTHINGNESS..." Out of nowhere, GATES OF WINTER have successfully stormed the international metal press in 2008 with their massive debut full length album "Lux Aeterna"! GATES being history's only note-able metal export hailing from 'the burial ground' of Sault Ste. Marie in Northern Ontario (now featuring WOODS OF YPRES frontman and Sault native David Gold on drums), they've emerged to deliver one of the best metal albums to come out of Canada in recent years! Spreading like wildfire, "Lux Aeterna (meaning eternal light)" has received praise, enthusiastic reviews and curious attention from metal media all over the world (see www.myspace.com/gatesofwinter for the impressive list of over 40 positive reviews, sorted by country!). GoW plays symphonic progressive metal utilizing elements of doom metal, power metal, and death metal, complete with inspired clean and heavy vocals by powerhouse frontman Lee Maines, mechanical riffs, colorful bass, searing keyboards, face-melting solos and extreme drumming. Think of the musical compositions and the intelligent, positive, moral lyrical stance of fellow Canadian countrymen "RUSH", updated for 2008 with dual 7-string guitars, 6 string bass, heavier drumming, a touch of gothic darkness and influenced by the modern metal sensibilities of AMORPHIS, DARK TRANQUILITY and even DIMMU BORGIR and you have the behemoth that is "GATES OF WINTER". Truly a 'modern metal band', sparing no expense in the execution of the vision, "Lux" is also easy on the eyes, featuring heavenly cover art and booklet layout with seven additional graphic designs by Geoffrey Rousselot (Devin Townsend). GATES OF WINTER is on tour promoting 'Lux Aeterna" in Canada throughout the rest of 2008, so please have your copies of "Lux" stocked up! Please see www.myspace.com/gatesofwinter for all the dates and details. Thanks!
