The Gathering Mist announces its debut full-length CD, Rhythmic Epiphany.
A full hour featuring 15 tracks of a unique percussive mix of harmonies, melodies, rhythms, syncopations, and timbres, few of which have previously been explored in this genre... Ranging from one minute to over seven minutes, this album is sure to grab the listener's attention and stand out as something creative, inspiring, delightfully unexpected, and intriguing. Plenty of odd-time signatures, polyrhythms, and key changes to keep musicians busy, and still a pleasant listen for non-musicians as well! Centered around percussion instruments from all over the world, there are also very talented guest musicians on bass (Aaron Swatski), acoustic and electric guitars (Aaron Swatski, Andrew Pomeroy, Scott Hoon), cello (Sarah Herb), alto saxophone (Stephen Hackett), flute (Lisa Boyko), and fujara (Slovakian bass overtone flute) (emily jones).
Percussion instruments used are:
13-piece Drum set, 12" and 14" jembes, 8" and 10" doumbeks, 16" and 22" frame drums, utar/hadgini/traditional-shaped udus, 12-note Kalimba, E minor Pentatonic and D minor Pentatonic HAPI Drums, D minor Pentatonic homemade PVC drum, shekere, seed shakers, 5-octave marimba, vibraphone, Tibetan singing bowl, tambourine, clave, vibraslap, empty popcorn tin (think i'm kidding??)
Enjoy!
