Album Notes

Dynamic, intense and passionate are just some of the words used to describe the innovative work of instrumental guitarist and composer Dominic Gaudious.

After successfully releasing two albums and touring with an eclectic rock band in the 1980's, Dominic found his passion in the contemplative world of classical/world beat music. Working mainly with six and twelve-string acoustic guitars and incorporating exotic instruments such as the Australian digeridoo, Dominic expanded on the theme and created a uniquely intricate playing style which blends the sounds of classical, jazz, Flamenco, folk, rock and world beat.

Often compared to Michael Hedges and Leo Kottke, Dominic's appealing sound has become widely sought after for festivals, benefits and college concerts. He has performed for the Race Unity Festival in Atlanta and for national and international organizations such as PETA, Greenpeace and Citizens for a Better Environment. Dominic has also performed at the 1996 Centennial Olympic Games, appeared with the well-respected jazz ensemble Acoustic Alchemy and world-renown guitarists such as Pierre Bensusan and Adrian Legg as well as the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra. He also recently performed for the G3 (Satriani, Vai, Petrucci) after-show party at Atlanta's Tabernacle.

Acoustic Captivity is one of my favorite CDs and worthy of repeat listening. The raw power and excitement of this music is enhanced by the musicality and technical proficiency of the artist. He is a guitarists' guitarist. I look forward to acquiring his other CDs. Highly recommended.

A brilliant guitarist, blends of Michael Hedges and a dose or two at times of Adrian Legg, a humbling listening experience for mortal guitarists like many of us. I heard Sharpening the Saw from Dominic's Website and it sold me, I was also curious when I heard he's opened for Eric Johnson, figured he must be good. Thanks for a great CD and . Art
