Album Notes

Gavin Pennycook learned to play with Irish Minstrels branch of Comhaltas in Glasgow, run by family friend Frank McArdle, and served his musical apprenticeship with Frank's St Roch's Ceili Band. The first Scotsman to win an All-Ireland fiddle title, he's played and recorded with many musicians and bands, and developed a unique sound combining elements of Irish, Scottish, Scandinavian and many other styles of fiddling.

Gavin's debut solo CD consists of 19 of his own compositions, played on fiddle and whistle. The CD includes files of manuscript notation for all the tunes.

“Nearly forty minutes of the best traditional style music available at the moment. Your efforts in obtaining this gem will certainly be worth it.” – Danny Saunders, Living Tradition Magazine
