Album Notes

Gawker Slowdown is the musical hobby of the Twin Cities' Eric Kalenze, who writes, performs, and records his songs in his basement project studio while his wife and daughters sleep.

'Sturdy Branches' is the fifth full-length Gawker Slowdown release and first since 2006's largely acoustic 'Self Defense'.

Like previous Gawker Slowdown releases, 'Sturdy Branches' features honest, personal lyrics and strong melodies. It departs a bit from previous work, though, by leaning a little heavier on the "rock" half of "folk rock".
