ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Quirky? Rock 'n Roll? Blues? R&B? Multi-genre? All of this and more is true! Garland Burnette and the Cinders in its present form began in August 2001 when the core group of Garland Burnette (guitar, vocals), Mary Kay (bass, vocals) and Randy Blythe (drums, vocals) were joined by Roy Donaldson, an erstwhile lead guitarist coming out of deep-freeze (a self-imposed retirement of over two decades). Interesting combination? You bet!

This 2003 release is the first full-length, professionally produced CD for this band and is just right for those of eclectic rock-leaning tastes. Listen closely and you will hear the influences that were so important to each band member in the formative years of the 1960s and 1970s: Doors, ZZ Top, Led Zeppelin, Stax/Motown, Spirit, Lovin' Spoonful, Buffalo Springfield...the list can and does go on and on.

excellent classic rock/blues stylings - engaging lyrics
The Golden Age of Rock. If you've been there, Big Dog will take you back. If you weren't there, it will make you wish that you had been! This is an outstanding offering of classic rock/blues that is just plain fun to listen to. All original songs... and hey, the lyrics are fun, witty, and actually draw you in to the music. Highly recommended.

Big Dog
Good to listen to GREAT music again!

P. Faulkinberry

Great music and a lot of fun
An excellent CD by some extremely talented songwriters/musicians. It’s got dreamy, sexy blues numbers; hard-driving, can’t-sit-still rock and roll; and some very imaginative and clever cross-genre stuff. I’ve played it so much I think I have it memorized.

If you know a Big Dog you have to listen!
The Big Dog tune is what got me to buy the CD. We have one at work. After listening to the CD, the lyrics on all the tracks tune right into life and hit on many things I relate to. The sound quality is superb. I look forward to more music from the band. They have great lyrics and vocals and are easy to listen to.
