ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
When Phase I was released, there was a promise for Phase II. It's time has come. Grainger, Jazz/Funk style of music, announce Phase II, the follow-up to their award-winning debut. Phase I was just the start, Phase II from Grainger takes you to the next step.

Featuring Gary and Gregory Grainger along with the talents of John Scofield, Kim Waters, Dan Reynolds, Marshall Keys, Moe Daniels, Benjie Porecki, Skip Pruitt, Robert 'Wa Wa' LeGrand, Alfredo Mojica, Jake Sheffer, Charlie Williams, Jarrett Miles, Larry Jacobs, and introducing Tré Jonz and T'Hai on vocals.

Phase II will include a remake of the smash hit Tell Me Why by the group Pockets which Gary Grainger was a founding member. Tell Me Why will let everyone know who hears it that good music, like good wine, only gets better with time. Phase II is another step in the Grainger musical journey-one you have to hear, and feel!

After his debut album "Phase I", which includes collaborations with Maysa, Kim Waters, Paul Jackson Jr., Gary Thomas, Ramlee, Moe Daniels, Jimmy Wilson and Dan Reynolds, they have released in 2002 "Phase II". This album is featuring Gary and Gregory Grainger along with the talents of John Scofield, Kim Waters, Dan Reynolds, Marshall Keys, Moe Daniels, Benjie Porecki, Skip Pruitt, Robert 'Wa Wa' LeGrand, Alfredo Mojica, Jake Sheffer, Charlie Williams, Jarrett Miles, Larry Jacobs, and introducing Tré Jonz and T'Hai on vocals. Gary and Greg.........smoooooth!!.........and funkalicious!
I'm a bass player myself, and heard Gary demoing a PRS at this past July's NAMM Show in Indianapolis. The man was awesome (alongwith Johnny Hiland), and when I found his website and recordings, I had to have one. Gary and Greg definitely did not dissapoint.....SMOOOOOOth!!!

Phase 2
This is a awesome CD, Gary & Greg are great reminds me a lot of the Braxton Brothers. This CD is one for just chilling or driving and partying. One for the jazz funk collection.

Impressive!!!
I am a former friend/associate of the late Nathan Heathman and current Manager/Agent for a dynamic jazz guitarist by the name of Doc Flowers, it was from Nathan where I first heard the name Grainger. Afterward I found the name to be synonymous with success, so the music of Phase II with its sexy subtle mystique was no surprise as it drew me in like a moth to a flame. Call it smooth jazz, call it new age jazz, call it fusion, I JUST CALL IT DAMN GOOD!!!

Making Room in the CD Changer
I remember how I felt sitting in the theater watching The Empire Strikes Back, and hadn't seen Star Wars. Grainger Phase II is an exciting blend of funk/jazz/R&B. All of the assembled players are commanding their instruments! The Brothers are definitely escalating. My favorite tracks so far are Get Up, and It's Time. The keys are masterful, and it's always great to hear sax whiz Skip Pruitt play anything. The bass shines here! Now I have to go back and get Phase I, so I can completely enjoy what all of my current appreciation is about.
