Album Notes

Geoffrey Dorfman, musician, painter and writer, was born in l950 in New York City. He recieved his early music education at the old Metropolitan Music School in Manhattan where he began piano studies at the age of seven. He attended the High School of Music and Art, graduated from Cooper Union in 1971 and received his Masters in Fine Arts from Syracuse University, Subsequently he and his wife, the painter, Tracey Jones, settled in New York, painting in earnest and exhibiting at several galleries in New York while teaching art at the College of Staten Island, C.U.N.Y. Mr. Dorfman also served on the faculty of the graduate division at Parsons School of Design, conducting seminars in art history.

He has written numerous articles on aesthetic and philosophical subjects for national publications as varied as "Artform" and "Stagebill". At the age of 37 he renewed studies in the piano, first with Nathan Brand, and upon his death in 1990, with Paul Maillet. He has appeared in solo concert ay many leading New York venues. He and his wife reside and maintain studios in Trenton, N.J.
