Album Notes

Bio: Carlton Allen (AKA) Papa Bear

My name is (AKA) Papa Bear. I started singing when I was about nine years of age. I won my first talent contest when I was in the seventh grade. I also won the best male vocalist of the year, seventh through the ninth grades.

When I got to High School I started singing with a group called "SIGNIFICANCE OF SOUL" and we entered in talent shows for three years while in High School and won.

After High School I performed with many bands, before started to sing solo.

I went on to perform every Thursday night at a night club call Backwaters.

I have opened for comedians such as Pierre, Guy Torre, Angela Means and different artists who have gone on to make a name for themselves.

I then went on to perform for Queen Latifah on her show ("Living Single").

I give all praise to God for the gift he has blessed me with, and I hope that our new CD will go to heights I have never seen before!

Bio: Derrick Osborne (AKA) Big D

My name is Derrick Osborne (AKA) Big D. I've been rapping and songwriting since 1989. Music has always played a very inspirational part of my life.

Like any youth, I started out listening to some of the music that my parents played, with influences such as George Clinton, The Gap Band, Marvin Gaye, The Spinners and Curtis Mayfield just to name a few.

My appreciation for music and the way it affects our lives was introduced to me at a early age.

During the 90's I formed a couple of acts such as Black Sun Rise (music which was primarily rooted in the elevation of black awareness) and the D Force which was basically a spin-off of the G Funk era.

We mostly provided entertainment for private functions and social gathering.

Currently, I've been fortunate to work with Carlton "Papa Bear" Allen in association with Gregory Ray Records on a collaboration CD that fuses Hip-Hop with Soul.

I really loved the CD. Big D is a fantastic rapper and I loved the grooves laid down on these tracks. I wish I could hear more.
