What is that thing? It's a PEDAL STEEL-GUITAR and you've heard one played on albums from rock to country. On this mixed-venue CD, Gene Jones plays some of his favorite country, western-swing & easy-listening standards.

Album Notes

It's no secret that Gene Jones is one of my favorite people and has my admiration for his musical abilities.

His playing is excellent and his professional steel-guitar background is evident as I hear him play flawlessly throughout this CD. He has not forgotten his roots and his years of experience with such artists as Conway Twitty and Henson Cargill.

This is not a slide guitar....this is a real pedal steel-guitar with 20 strings, eight floor pedals, five knee levers, and played with a genuine "steel bar"....which is why it's called a "steel-guitar".

This is a great CD and like a bottle of fine wine that has aged, Gene sounds even better as he gets older. If he had continued his full-time musical career instead of opting out for "the security of a day job", without a doubt he would be right up there with the great steel-guitar players of today.

Fine wine is ageless and Gene is like fine wine that gets better with age. I'm going to get another glass of that CD and listen to the songs that Gene "likes to play" because they are the same songs that I like to hear him play.

I couldn't say it any better than Mr. J. Phillips' review. I DIDDO his comments 100%. Real CLASS in triditional cuntry music is hard to find in today's musicians and listening to it is like eating Southern Fried Chicken on Sunday. Gene cooked a fine Sunday meal on this one.
