THE GENE WALK GROUP - "The Gene Walk Group"
Classic Rock, Americana, Southern Rock, however you want to label it, The Gene Walk Group keeps the spirit of Rock alive. These accomplished musicians have put together an impressive collection of songs that should please AOR to Rock fans, and possibly even some in the Country music scene. The most appealing part of this music is it's truthfulness and accessablitity. They sing about human emontions and everyday situations that most people can relate to.
One might think this sounds alot like modern bands like "Matchbox 20", and yes, there are some comparisons, but these guys aren't trying to be everything to everyone like the modern rock bands. They are doing their own thing, and just happen to have a broader appeal. Walk's vocal range surpasses that of the modern bands as he sings with a more melodic style than modern bands or Country artists.
Due to the messed up music world we live in, I fear these guys are falling between the cracks, and the irony is that they fit in many genres, but not having that "label" probably hurts them in the eyes of record execs. All I can say is thank God for bands like this who do what they do and don't try to be anything they're not. If you're a music fan not concerned with image and being cool, you need to pick this album up, it's easily worth the money and will be listenable for many years to come.

“Gene Walk Group”
Autoproduzione - 1993
Thanks to the good Tom Mathers (Perris Records) are successful to having between the hands this gioiellino of aor bonjoviano. Part endured with the spumeggiante “Long Arm Of Love” who seems exited from the sessions of the debut of BON JOVI. “Painted Horse” is dancing that it remembers very close give the slow songs of ROXY BLUE, while with “More Secrets” is not continued “to bonjoviare” to the large one. “Ride The Rainbow” is a beautifulst aor electrical worker who leads us to the conclusive rienterpretazione of “Painted Horse” that closes a wonderful CD, that it has the only defect of having only six songs. Between guest the two names Stevens celebrates like that one of TM and the best Glen Burtnik.

He was from far away 1993 that I did not have news of this band, imprinted on the figure of Walk Gene, singer and chitarrista of the New Jersey. Memory very well when I acquired for correspondence miniums cd of 6 traces basing to me exclusively on some phrases read on a magazine American that compared the band to first Bon Jovi…
And in effects I conserve those still gelosamente cd that it contained authentications pearls of the bore of “Long Arm of Love”, one of my preferred songs always and of mega-ballad “the Painted Horse”.
To 10 years of distance, thanks to the net of course, I are imbattuto in the situated one of the band and with the my largest one been strange I have known of this exited album and that immediately I have tried to recover.
Thanks to the availability and the sympathy of the same Gene eccomi here finally to being able to speak to you about cotanto cd that if arrived before in my case of the mail would sure have figured in mine playlist of year-end.
Eh, because the 13 songs enclosed in nearly 70 minuteren represent a healthy air puff for anyone loves sonorità melodiche and of class, joined to a sure search of the roots of the r' n' r that they have made to think me to some things of the Rolling Stones… omaggiati with one beautifulst version of the classic “Dead Horse here”.
Between the better pieces they deserve citation “Kiss The World Goodbye” from the chorus indovinatissimo, “Tumbleweed Junction” that remembers the Firehouse and the reproposition of already cited “Painted Horse” that it has not lost null the fascination originates them…
Regarding the debut they appear in this album you recall to sonorità nearly Southern, above all in two pieces from 90 like “Sunflower” and “Rumblin' Train” that with its 8 minuteren and means of candid duration to being one of the strong plates of the live - shows.
Listening to this cd me the first Tangier and Cinderella have come in mind bands type, or “Blaze of Glory” of who sapete you, with those atmospheres nearly western that they have always made me to drive crazy…
I can only give a single council to you… contacted the band and procurate cd… one to you of the pearls of a year that indeed I begin to think one of most prolific of last the 10…
PS: In recent months ours have made various dates with personages of the bore of Bret Michaels and Twisted Sister… will want to also say something not?

If you like your rock with clean vocals, superb songwriting and storytelling lyrics, this is a band you need to check out. While they do take on a Bon Jovi style sound, they are not rip offs. There is plenty of room in rock today for this kind of band. This is indeed a breath of fresh air and I hope they continue to put out albums up to this caliber. This is a wonderful rock record.
