Album Notes

I feel very lucky to have gotten the chance to start touring in Germany in 2002 when I was invited to join the 'Women on Stage' Tour produced by Fatima Ibler. Sally Barker (UK) and Kerstin Blodig (DE), my touring mates, quickly became dear friends and we toured Germany and the UK over the next few years. Along the way, I was introduced to Christina Lux and Susan Weinert and I was really excited about both of them, their music, their talent and the passion they brought to it. Back in the states, I finally connected with the fiery talent of Trina Hamlin who had just started working with some musicians in Hamburg, and I knew the cast of characters for this project was complete. I wanted to rearrange a collection of Cover Tunes and do it as a collaborative effort. I wanted the artists to cross borders, bringing unknown talent across the Ocean. I thought it would be great to feature an all female line up - including our engineer, Tay Hoyle, and so this is the idea I presented to Peter Finger and Gerd Kratzat at Acoustic Music Records.
As we began recording it was clear that each song had a story , both personal as well as universal and while there's not enough room here to go into that, I plan on making the stories available on line at my website. Although I wanted to plan arrangements ahead of time, the distance between us all and everyone's touring schedule made it difficult. As a result, each collaboration was pretty much spontaneous, and I believe captures the joy of working together, and the moods and emotions that were with us in the present moment. It has been an honor and incredibly fulfilling to work with each artist, and to 'Un-Cover' new dimensions to these songs.
