With catchy melodies and lyrics, a variety of instruments, and wonderful harmonies that include a children’s chorus, this collection of fourteen songs will have youngsters singing, clapping, and stomping along…This family-friendly recording will illicit smiles and chuckles from young and old alike.
American Library Association’s Booklist March 15, 2005

Positive messages about the world around us abound in almost every song and listeners will feel compelled to move around with many of the songs, including Woody Guthrie’s “Dance Around” and Hayne’s “Pop, Pop, Pop”, a delightful song about eating fruit. This feel good title will be a delightful addition…
School Library Journal, April 2005

Sammie Haynes has been singing for as long as she can remember. Born in New England, her earliest memories are of performing for her grandmother's sewing circle (with Nana on piano) and practicing hard on harmonies with a neighborhood friend while working out on the swing set in the backyard.
Equally comfortable singing with young children in their schools or at festivals, as with her Texas-swing band, MAINESQUEEZE, Sammie has been performing for years sharing the stage with well-known local and national musicians.
With a background in art and music, courses and interest in early childhood education and a former daycare teacher, becoming a mom spurred her into songwriting for children and next, to performing it, not just for her son, but for his friends and all over New England.
Most of the songs Sammie performs are original but she also includes some traditional, those of friends and beloved troubadour, Woody Guthrie. Her songs, generally, are written from a child's point of view and reflect their feelings about their world, themselves, Mother Nature and living compatibly with one another. She always includes plenty of playfulness and invites her listeners to actively participate.

The lilting lyrics and old-timey flavor absolutely charm and warm the heart. I especially enjoy the historical and natural focus of "River In Your Town". As one of Sammie's biggest fans, I'm anxiously awaiting the next compilation of funtastic tunes to bring to my camp on the river.

I LOVE IT even as an adult!!

I purchased Nature's ABCs for my Grandson and liked it so much I bought one for myself. The lively songs make a perfect sing along while I'm comuting to and from work. I have even improved my skiing by "Round and Round" while sliding down the slopes. I love the 'kiddie rap's song "chugga chugga, choo choo"! I still cannot decide which song is my favorite. Sometimes it's Pop,Pop,Pop, then other times it's Treasure Every Step. It's just so hard to decide - they're all so good!! BUY IT; YOU'LL LOVE IT!! PS: My grandson is enjoying his copy, too.
