Album Notes

Born and raised in the suburban New York City area, Geoff has called Austin, Texas home since 1981. He was exposed to the joy of music by his parents, who both sang, and his grandfather, who sang, conducted, arranged and composed.
"My mom loved musicals, my grandfther loved choral music, and my dad loves to sing - anything from Mozart to the Beatles. He exposed me to the singer/songwriters like Pete Seeger, Dylan, Joni Mitchell, and Simon and Garfunkel, and gave me my first guitar, for which I am eternally grateful. That was in high school, where I discovered the Allman Brothers, the Stones, the Grateful Dead and the other groove rockers, along with Yes, Steely Dan and other jazz/rock fusion groups.
I started writing songs just as the new wave/punk scenes started to gel. I loved the punchy rhythms and biting lyrics that emerged in the early to mid-eighties, and as electronic keyboards and guitar effects became more sophisticated, I began to incorporate all of these elements, along with the traditional and classical styles, orchestrations and harmonic voicings I had heard growing up."
A composer/songwriter was born. Continuing to use an eclectic mix of influences to fuel his fertile imagination, he keeps growing. An English and Literature major in college, with a deep interest in history, his words reveal a complex and passionate mind, not content to write just another pretty song. His subjects and characters cover an ever-expanding spectrum, from the pain of isolation and loneliness to the far-reaching consequences of world politics.
"I consider myself a global citizen, and so I see us all in this together. There will be no room in the future for bigotry, cruelty, or narrow-mindedness, and the sooner we free ourselves from this burden, the happier we will be. To that end, I speak out. I'm just trying to do my part to keep the dialogues going, which has the potential to raise all of our consciousness."
