Album Notes

Producer, Songwriter, Arranger, Composer and Lead Guitarist George Jacobs has teamed up with the legendary Rippingtons and Sax Great “Eric Marinthal.”.

The Rippingtons formed in 1986 by guitarist and band leader Russ Freeman, their career has spanned two decades. In the early to mid 90s they were more of a jazz/rock instrumental band, but since 1999 they have developed more into the Smooth Jazz genre. Many of their songs have also been played during The Weather Channel's local on the 8's forecast segments.

Eric Marienthal has played on over 50 GRP records alone including records by Lee Ritenour, Dave Grusin, David Benoit, Currently, Eric is signed to the Peak Records label, owned by Rippingtons founder Russ Freeman.

The first radio single set for release on July 1, 2008 “East” spotlights George Jacobs talents with a mix of smooth jazz and a soft rock approach that blends an amazing acoustic and electric guitar playing that sounds like sax or vocals. This project is sure to crossover into multiple radio genres and will generate mass consumer appeal as it targets both a young and old audience demographic.

George Jacobs formerly known in the 70’s as George Tacktikos was lead guitarist and writer for “Chango” a Latin rock group. The first album was # 4 on radio playlists and also on Billboard Magazine Charts. Their second album was released on Atlantic Records. Chango's album sold over 300,000.00 copies in 3 months.

George has toured with music icons Tina Turner, Journey, Styx, Leslie West, Chick Corea Robin Trower and more.

It has been years in the making and George Jacobs new project “Under the Influence” is without a shadow of doubt “Perfection at its Finest”

Composer/arranger/producer/guitarist extraordinaire George Jacobs… (formerly known as George Tacktikos when he was lead guitarist for the Latin Rock group Chango in the 1970’s) lights it up big time on UNDER THE INFLUENCE, an intoxicating collection of electric guitar-driven contemporary jazz songs. Think Santana meets The Rippingtons. In fact, several members from The Rippingtons are special guests… Dave Karasony on drums, bassist Kim Stone and sax man Eric Marienthal all help load up this project with tons of great energy! UNDER THE INFLUENCE also contains a Christian Contemporary vibe to several tunes, especially the three dazzling vocals from Allen Simms, Stephanie Coats, and Samantha Cole. This exciting album is filled with mostly original compositions with one cool cover of Peter White’s “Chasing the Dawn.” A most impressive outing, one that is full of passionate, searing guitar work. The music is powerful, with a big, full, rich sound that will take you away and cause your spirit to soar.
