Album Notes

George Oakley is a Washington D.C. native and began his musical training at age ten on clarinet and saxophone. He has been performing as a jazz saxophonist for over thirty years. In 1984, George founded the Garrett Park Music School. As Director of the school he designed GREAT VIBRATIONS, a music education series for pre-school through first grade children. GREAT VIBRATIONS is widely known and immensely popular throughout the Washington Metropolitan area.

In 1986 he was prevailed upon by a student to perform at a child’s party and thus began his career as the Music Man. He now performs for children at, concert halls, festivals, and schools. He has recorded three CD’s of children’s music.

Some of the songs on this CD and it's over all spirit are a product of applying the folk tradition with Mr. Georg E and the children he has worked with over the years. Their brutal honesty in letting him know what works and what doesn’t has yielded great results.
