Album Notes

I'm a singer/songwriter from San Antonio, Texas who originally hails from New Orleans. During my career I've had the good fortune to play with the likes of Wynton and Branford Marsalais and Caleb Guillotte (Deadeye Dick). That was the name of Caleb’s band, not his nickname, although he is very good with a BB gun.

I was abducted by gypsies in the late '80s and began a lucrative yet somewhat unfulfilling career running the potato sack slide with a traveling carnival. During the day while the gypsies slept, I went to school, earned several degrees, raised a family, and lived in many exciting places such as Washington, D.C., Nashville, and Cedar Rapids. Gypsies are really sound sleepers. Despite the fame, fortune, and endless supply of cotton candy, I returned to music and began writing and performing again in 2002.

Free from the sawdust and grease paint, I hooked up with veteran producer Scott Mathews to record a CD at his Tiki Town Studio in California. The album, "Long Story Short," was released in December 2005 and features ten original songs about love, life, Internet stalkers, and the thrill of buying a new car.

My influences include the Beatles, Marshall Crenshaw, Todd Rundgren, Cheap Trick, and Cap'n Geech and the Shrimp Shack Shooters. I also like those cymbal clashing monkeys. I'm currently performing in the San Antonio area but thus far have resisted several attractive offers to join a mariachi band.

For more information call me at 210.481.6624 or e-mail at info@georgeprenticemusic.com. Remember, the carnival is coming to your town one of these days and you know how you love the potato sack slide.
