The Guymon Ensley Quintet (GEQ) is a Jazz ensemble comprised of a smokin' three-piece rhythm section and two well orchestrated horns. GEQ brings to the table, musicianship, experience and professionalism. GEQ's release, Here . . . Put This On, is an example of the band's "right in the chops" approach to presentation. It contains three swingin original compositions alone with hard-hitting arrangements of tunes composed and performed by such legends, as Dizzy Gillespie, Charlie Parker and Miles Davis.
Guymon Ensley - trumpet
Kerry Lacy - bass & vocals
Phil Lesky - piano
Milton Hale - drums
Cornelious Johnson - saxophone

The disc is strong, swinging and every bit as vital as the GEQ live

When I received the CD, I hoped that their studio work wouldn't come off as a pale imitation of their live performance. My fears were quickly assuaged. The disc is strong, swinging and every bit as vital as the GEQ live. I hope there are many discs to come and many more engagments coming from this first rate jazz ensemble.
