Album Notes

I write with Graham Knight, a long-time friend who is also a brother-in-law, a canoeing and camping partner and sometimes legal advisor. I’ve recorded three albums and have plans for at least a few more. The music might be best described as Canadiana. It has elements of Americana, folk, roots, jazz, country and emphasizes the lyrical side.

As a visual artist at an early age, I view each song as similar to a painting. A song should be self-contained - it should form its own unique world that a listener can enter into – but should also link to external notions, emotions or devotions. The best songs should build upon and pay respect to what has come before (well, of course they all do) but should also give something that is new and memorable. Preferably, that should not be a headache.

I do not write and record full-time. I respectfully disagree with those that believe only fulltime artists have something worthwhile to say. It is my belief that the Internet may be the key to returning creative music to appreciative listeners.
