Album Notes

"Jeanne's versatility is displayed for the world to hear on 12 tracks of
audio excellence." -Bill Miller, Nationally

"The music and melody melds together as deliciously as ginger and lemon:
smooth and tart at the same time." -T. J. Denton, Composer,
Columbia Records

"At peak moments . . .Gies uses her full-bodied voice as an emotionally
expressive instrument." -Dave Luhrssen,
Shepherd Express

"(Gies) has an unerring sense of when to follow the printed note and when to
bend the melody." -Keith Spore,
Journal Sentinel Staff

MAD ABOUT THE BOY, newly released by vocalist Jeanne Gies, is a stunning jazz
triumph. Backed by heavy weights including bassist/producer Gerald Cannon,
pianists John Hicks and Eric Reed, drummers Montez Coleman and Willie Jones
III, saxophonist Sherman Irby, and guitarist Bruce Edwards, Gies smoothly
swings, seduces, and surprises in superb renditions of these jazz classics.
From the so-cool West Coast Blues to the intimate Solitude, Gies displays a
rare versatility of range and emotion.

Close your eyes during the smokey 'Mad About The Boy' and you're all in black
and white as the sultry girl singer woos the bad-boy at the bar and the gin and
piano flows freely; smile as the lush 'So Many Stars' takes you dancing under
the Brazilian sky; laugh at the last failed romance as Gies tosses off a playful
'But Not For Me.'

Whatever your mood, this CD is sure to enhance and improve it. Of particular
note is the first vocal rendition of Cannon's 'Peri.' Previously recorded
by various artists including trumpeter Roy Hargrove, the haunting beauty of
the melody inspired Gies to pen lyrics which paint a lovely portrait in the
mind of the listener. Given the seamless blend of voice and instrument from
these stellar musicians, there is nothing to be done but simply sit back and
enjoy!

Jeanne Gies resides in New York City and performs both locally and
abroad. For bookings and performance updates, please email requests to:

Sing it Girl!

Jeanne's voice and musical interpretation is spot on when "selling" songs like "Crazy He Calls Me" and "Cry Me a River"- a tribute to her musical upbringing by Milwaukee Jazz great Frank DeMiles, (or Greenfield Choral Director Mr. Dominguez to us.) Keep up the great work, and sing, sing, sing! (and record, record, record).
