Album Notes

While touring London , England in the summer of ’69, I met “the Beatles”. By way of the “underground” I found my way to emi studios. At the time, they were putting the final touches on what would be their upcoming lp “Abbey Road.” a handful of fans were milling about. Suddenly, Paul McCartney, George Harrison, Ringo Starr  & their producer George Martin Appeared  and walked out the front door. They Stopped to sign autographs. I had my camera and began clicking away.  Discovering I was an American, we chatted briefly. Then they got into their cars & were gone. For me. that encounter changed everything.

The ‘70’s were the decade of the songwriter. James Taylor, Billy Joel, Stevie Wonder, Joni Mitchell, neil Young. This was a time of inspiration for me. after returning from England I took up playing guitar & piano. I put together a small 2 track home studio and began my songwriting and recording endeavors. Eventually, I would build my studio to four, then eight & finally sixteen track.

when I was in my early twenties, I traveled through Western & Eastern Europe on my own. Then onto Greece, Egypt, Turkey, Iran, Afghanistan, Pakistan & India.  Being a native Californian and raised in san Francisco, Experiencing these different cultures was a once in a lifetime adventure.

In the summer of ’71 I attended Humboldt State and enrolled in a couple of Literature classes. We read & studied works by Becket, Burroughs, Kesey & Hesse. I got into reading science fiction. Works by Azimov, Clark, HG Wells & Verne.  My exposure to literature is reflected in   lyrics for songs such as, “The Landing” & The Procuring of Puppets with String.”

1980: I recorded my first LP “The Broadway Boys.” Although it didn’t make me a household name I received a thumbs up review from “Keyboard” magazine. Recently I released several CDs...”Not a Cloud in the Sky” and “Dining at Horizons.” The former contains the song...”Like Swallowing Down a Spider” which was described in (PME.COM...progressive music encyclopedia) as “Pure Genius.” I’m currently completing work on  two new CDs. Playing guitar, piano.
songwriting & recording have given me a sense of commitment, perseverance and identity.
