Album Notes

Songs to the beloved on high
Songs to the beloved below
Songs to the beloved within...

This collection of sensual at times erotic poems from the Hebrew bible, recounts the tale of the primordial couple and their journey in the garden of delight to partake of its nectar. Their journey depicts the interface and the interaction of the celestial and terrestrial forces of creation. The songs are languaged in the most beautiful poetry, their sheer beauty is an elixir that warms the heart, their
allegories illumine the path to higher states of conciousness

Over the years as I worked with this sacred text in my meditative practice and in my work with others, I came to realize that the best way to make use of its magic is to feel its magic. The mystiques have shown us that no other medium evokes this feeling state more easily and with greater potency than movement, dance and song.

The songs in this album are from some of my favorite passages. Every song, sung first in Hebrew, imparts the codes and vibratory patterns singular to the language in which it was written. It is then sung in English so non-Hebrew listeners can sing along and embody its rich beautiful words. The contemplative pieces are sung with much passion and devotion. The more rythmic tracks are pulsing, joyful tunes inviting movement and dance.

It is my hope that who hear these songs are inspired to sing and dance themselves to the gates of this paradisical garden, partaking of the sweet nectar that resides within all hearts.
