Album Notes

The second CD by Gilbert Neal finds him growing appropriately more cynical with the times, and yet still able to effortlessly mezmorize his audience with scintillating dance grooves (\"Isn\'t She Amazing?\", \"Medicine\"), fascinating character studies (\"Median Man\", \"Bubble\") and more astonishing lyrics.

Mastered by Grammy Nominee Phillip Klum, \"Our Deepest Apathy...\" resonates with anyone who has ever lost a loved one, loved a lost one, or lusted after a lost love.

Continuing in the vein of his critically acclaimed debut, \"Drink The Beast With Me\", Neal continues to reign as one of North Carolina\'s most unique songwriters, an amazing talent (Neal plays most of the instruments himself in the style of Todd Rundgren, Prince, and Jim and Tammy Fay Baker) and maybe the finest undiscovered vocal talent in the United States.

Discover him.

Gil Neal reaches back to re-invent
author: Nick Corallo
Gil Neal is an "Evil Genius". His tunes take you on a ride through his unique and sometimes troubling & quirky thoughts but every single step of the way is so worth it. He is way more than clever and his melodies and grooves hearken back to roots like Stevie Wonder, XTC, (the kings of quirky) Todd Rundgren and even Prince. He does all this while weaving a whole new genre all his own. He also deftly travels lyrically from dark, inward almost self loathing set to perhaps some of the greatest arrangement ever put down (My Evil Twin) to a strange Patriotism (Welcome To America) and an "Art Song" with pseudo-19th Century Piano accompaniment. Gil does all of he Vocals and slides from growling R&B that would give Stevie Wonder chills to sweet-sticky pop styles. He plays the bass and most guitars and Keys and is masterfully helped out by a few friends. I bought two CDs and I may get a few more as Holiday gifts!

Instant classic

This is a great CD! Better than 99.99% of anything I\'ve heard out there. These tunes continue to grow on me like nothing else lately. His infectious melodies, impeccable vocals, rich and complex harmonies, super-savvy and poetic lyrics all make for a powerful experience. He has struck a fine balance between light and dark, hard rock and sensitive 21st century singer-songwriter. It\'s hard to put into words. It is reminiscent of the late Kevin Gilbert\'s great work in this regard. May Gilbert Neal find his way to a Grammy someday.
