Album Notes

Singer/Songwriter Joe Gillaspie announced today that he will be independently releasing his CD, “These Things I can’t see” this fall. The album features ten original songs, including the lead single Come Around, as well as These Things I Can’t See, Steady On, and Take What You Want, in addition to many others. Recorded in an acoustic folk style, the album was tracked at Koda Sounds in Rochester, Minnesota and mixed/mastered at the legendary Pachyderm Studios in Cannon Falls, Minnesota.

Joe’s music features a rich blend of soothing vocals, distinctive acoustic guitar playing and thoughtful lyrics. The songs evoke images of everyday life in a reflective and inspirational manner, while the acoustic guitar lines provide the perfect counterbalance of melody and emotion. Joe has been compared to artists as diverse as Townes Van Zandt, and Ray LaMontagne, and was previously a finalist in the Big Top Chautauqua songwriting contest.

“There’s just nothing better than a simple song, and a great melody”, says Gillaspie, “Song inspiration comes from all angles, I just try to channel the sounds and images in my head to actual concrete songs. The process is magical in many ways, and especially fulfilling when a song comes together."
