Album Notes

REVIEWER COMMENTS:
I do believe that artist Lamont Gilliland has found a way to take his skill on the piano and use it to compose original pieces of music to delight the senses.

ARTIST NOTES:
I believe that everyone knows when they have found their place on this earth. For me it took over forty years to find. I believe my place is composing music and playing the piano.

Over twenty-five years ago, I dropped my pursuit of music to take the more conservative career path as an engineer. During my middle teens I studied music theory, composition, and technique at Converse College Petrie School of Music. I loved playing and composing, however, my reserved nature did not lend itself to performing. So instead I sought refuge in an engineering profession. A quarter of a century later, I have come to the realization that this was not a place of refuge, but rather somewhere for me to hide.

I feel a sense of peace while composing and playing. I often wake in the middle of the night with music accompanied by beautiful imagery. I feel compelled to capture what is within me at that moment. In fact, people have asked me to lengthen some of my tracks. However, I am never able to completely reproduce an original recording and modify it without losing its spirit. Therefore, I leave them as they are - a reflection of my inspiration at that point in time. In that regard maybe composing and playing is more similar to painting - the same brushstroke can never be repeated identically. Each is unique in its expression of the artist at that moment.

At first, I produced the CD only as a way to share my music with friends and family. Before long, people began requesting copies for their friends, co-workers, and family members. On the suggestion of others, I put my CD in a few select shops and found that it was selling remarkably well.

When I was first putting the CD together, my wife Wendy commented that the music was very therapeutic and would be complementary to music therapy used by counselors, massage therapists, and yoga. This was confirmed by others when my CD became available on Amazon and CDBaby, and I found that many massage therapists, counselors, and yoga instructors were purchasing the CD.

It is true that you receive what you send out into this world. My music is my gift to others, and I am finding a warm reception in return.

We are all artists. The fulfillment of life comes in finding our place, and a way to express and share our art with others. I hope that you find a moment of "your place" through my music. If so, then I have fulfilled part of my purpose on this earth.

My sincere thanks and appreciation!
-Lamont

Beautiful and relaxing

I use this CD in my massage practice, and my clients find it very calming. Sometimes "relaxation CD"s can be distracting, but ONE is helpful in promoting a deeply relaxing experience.
