A single sound source experiment. An album made entirely from balloon noises. Ordinary balloons have been hit, inflated, deflated, popped, rubbed, blown through, looped etc. The resulting recordings have been processed and sequenced into bizarre musical shapes.
Processing techniques are mainly pitch-shifting, spacial effects, variable loop positions, splicing and sequencing. Techniques that do not overly interfere with the original textures.
Limiting the sound source to a single non-musical instrument, Art Giraffefungal creates a wide variety of unfamiliar and abstract soundscapes of reanimated rubber.
The animal related titles reflect the animalistic sounds of the grunting and squeaking balloons. "Experimental Mouse", in his lab, dwarfed by his giant ambient balloon machines. A balloon ant-eater snacks on balloon ants but his balloon teeth can't quite break their thin plastic skins, and the Monkeybatcow and the Body Pop Pelican perform grotesque hypnotizing tribal rituals to the beating of balloon drums...
