Album Notes

The Roger Girke Band's new CD "My Baby Loves That Stuff" on Teletone Records features 11 tracks (10 are original) covering lots of musical ground - Delta, Chicago Blues and New Orleans Funk

Based in Wilmington, Delaware, the band has been building a name for itself playing blues venues and festivals in the northeast United States for the past five years. Their first Teletone CD "Roger Girke and The Funky Twisters - We Got The Funky Blues" received rave reviews in major publications across the country and this latest release further cements the band's artisty. Here is a sampling of recent reviews of "My Baby Loves That Stuff":

"A nice mix of Chicago and Delta blues and some New Orleans funk....Serious scorching vocals and blues guitar"
- Peter "Blewzzman" Lauro, Mary4Music.com -

"Prime guitar-fueled blues...danceable shuffles and slow-burning grooves....These guys are definitely worthy of national attention"
- Music City Blues Bluesletter, Nashville, Tennessee -

.....a funkier bunch would be hard to find......(Roger's) vocal abilities are refreshingly powerful & expressive...they deserve wider recognition indeed.
- Judge Jones, Blues Freepress #20, UK -

The group boasts a resume of recording and performing credits that will impress the most devout blues fans. Their second album features no covers aside from Fats Domino's "All By Myself."....run from New Orleans R&B to straight-up Chicago blues.
- Out and About Magazine, January 2005 -

.....Their new disc, My Baby Loves That Stuff, includes just one cover (Fat's Domino's "All By Myself") among a set of smart self-penned songs. Girke's vocals are better than credible, the recording is clean, and arrangements are well-thought-out.
Blues Revue, Apr/May 2005

This is as radio-ready as any submission we've had....as good as any that you're likely to hear over the airwaves in this genre.....certainly deserves a larger audience.
- Recording Magazine, 2005 -

...plenty of serious blues....with Roger on soulful vocals ...hot blues shuffles aplenty. "Daddy" is a heartfelt tribute to departed parent contained in a wee wee hours, south side Chicago slow blues, slow burn musical setting...an accomplished set.

Roger Girke plays a mean Blues Guitar! His phrasing is tasty and simple, yet he always surprises. I've seen Roger play many times, close up, and it's always a treat. His band is tight and it shows on this CD, which is a good representation of how the band sounds live. Get this CD for your collection, and see Roger and his Band Live soon! Mitch Schecter

Super chunky funky blues. Top notch vocals, tasty guitar licks, snare poppin'/ bass stridin' back line, and great songs make this a must have CD.
