Around the summer of 1975, after leaving Houston, Texas, was recruited into a local Compton California band as a lead singer and one of the band's guitarist, called "SHALOME", which performed though out the southern California area. One of the noted member of the band was Hazel Payne, who later went on to joined the world-wide internationally known band as the "TASTE OF HONEY", known for their internationally known 80's hit single "OGIE BOOGIE"

Current Projects: Gistand is currently working on his first solo R&B CD release entitled "TIME CAN'T WAIT BUT LOVE CAN", consisting of all original material, composed, written, performed and recorded at his
Gistand Productions studio in Victorville, California. Gistand also has a completed gospel original CD entitled "HE DID IT ALL", which he is preparing to release soon. Two of Gistand's songs from his "TIME CAN'T WAIT BUT LOVE CAN" CD album, "I STILL HAVE YOU' and "TIME CAN'T WAIT BUT LOVE CAN", is being included a CD compilation called "AMERICA", which is produced by Hilltop Records in Hollywood California, which at this present time is currently being prepared for national release around mid 2005. Gistand is also a member of ASCAP of Los Angeles,California.
