Glen Halls : Progression Meditation

An unusual album in Glen Charles Halls' output, this contemporary jazz work is deceptively gentle. The use of sound, space, harmony, drone, melody, touch and dynamic, and compositional form and proportion is the work of a modern master.

Beautiful textures, harmony and explorations into outer-regions, meditative. I know some about this artist - there is a lot more to come and also has been done than this CD. What caught my ear most was Fleeting Thoughts, a haunting melody, lush chords with a perfectly balanced motif as a finale. Discovered this link by a search and came across Glen Halls CD `s. I work with an artist friend of Glen Halls, the amazing bassist, Dale James currently located in Tokyo. We have all worked together never all at same time i have yet to work with Glen Halls. Dale James and I have worked on numerous world-wide releases in Japan when I travel to Tokyo to produce and record. I am based in DC-Baltimore with much time in NYC-LA-Tokyo. Dale is one of the great bassists anywhere. Look forward to more from Glen Halls and his artistic developments, had listened to some out-takes in Japan of not yet released music from many years ago ( preproduction). Wonderful pianist/composer. Team this with the extraordinary talent of Bassist, Dale James. Great CD with much more under the hood possible. Ernest.

Fresh, Deep, Provacative, Unique. A beautiful pianist, a giant in the field really. Somewhat reminiscent of Herbie Hancock,, though no clear influences are present. Watch out for Glen Halls.

Every song here makes you think. It makes you relax and forget about every thing around you.He seems to pour emotion and talent into every single song, and the result is beautiful, intellegent contemporary jazz. This is a unique cd and nothing quite like I've ever heard before.Glen Halls is one of my heros and favorite artists, and Progression Meditation has only made me look up to him more.Plus, the title rhymes, witch I find very amusing, since I love rhyming things. An excellent artist,Glen Halls is the smartest!:)
