Album Notes

Imagine yourself in Ireland at the end of the day. The weather is rough and everyone is inside in the kitchen while rain beats on the windows. The fire gets stoked with peat, the kettle boils and mugs of hot sweet tea are passed around. Someone takes a fiddle off the wall and launches a reel, joined soon by flute and guitar. The floor is cleared for a set dance. Sparks fly from the flagstones, songs are sung, jokes and stories drift through the air and you are lost in the moment. Welcome to Glen Road in concert; bring your dancing shoes.
These musicians have abandoned more lucrative careers to play traditional music. The commitment to the craft is evident in their passionate performances, the joy in their music, and the professionalism of their show. Glen Road arrive with wry, good humor, a relaxed stage presence and earnest love for the tradition they represent. They impart warm memories and the rewards of an evening in good company. Enjoy the music!

"Glen Road aired some memorable tunes with fiddle, flute, tinwhistle, guitar and banjo and reinforced the belief that nothing makes a listener cry genuine tears like a sad Irish ballad; at least nothing else this side of a vehicle repair bill or a piece of concrete shooting out the side of a lawnmower and drilling you in the shin? However, these Irish also made me laugh, something no credit card statement will ever do.
Glen Road?s Irish music and West Texas sunshine, when mixed in proper amounts, can melt the hearts of even Scandinavian Lutherans with the effectiveness of an acetylene torch in a greenhouse. They would be welcome as a spring thaw in my home state of Minnesota." -Alpine Skyline, Alpine Texas

About the best recording of Irish music ever. 'Tis my favorite Irish CD, reminds me of home. (Even better than The Clancey Brothers and Tommy Makem.)

a "Dervish Sound-a-like", wonderful talent and selections
author: david e
Thoroughly enjoyed the music sets, I especially like it when the group mixes vocals with instrumentals in the same set. If you like Dervish or Border Collies, you'll like this one.
